G scale measurements???
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, May 29, 2006 10:22 AM
I'm kit bashing Bachmann's Big Hauler coach & combine and Lehmann's Porter engine to model San Diego's 1890's railroading (standard gage). The Porter is stripped down to the mechanism. I have plenty of reference photos to transfer measurements from. What scale ruler should I be using?

Corvette Welome to the forum, joined Aug 10th 05 and only now just posting?

Depends....are you working to any scale overall on your layout?

Bachmann's coaches are 1/22.5 scale. LGB's porter is stated to be 1/22.5 but is actually closer to 1/20.3 but works fine with 1/22.5, If your going to use the coaches as the ruling scale then 1/22.5 is the correct scale to use.

   Have fun with your trains

If you want it to be standard gauge, you should use 1/32. You will have to adjust the coach and combine accordingly.

keep it simpel , if all of your major componets are 1:22, then make your model 1:22.
