But the error has been corrected, [;)][:)][:)] it was left in by mistake when I did the cut/paste of the USA Trains S4 Review ratings to use the same graphics.
Actually I should have noticed that, I don't remember any of the LGB steamers getting top marks on the smoke generator and the LGB Diesels are smokeless, aren't they? Very environmentally friendly! [8D][8D]

Perhaps they could patent it and sell the feature to the prototype railroads.

But it is interesting that the USAT S4 - a little switcher - has a smoke generator and the mainline LGB Genesis doesn't. Hmmmmmmmm.....

I'm a great follower of things LGB (more than 90% of my locomotives are LGB) but I just cannot understand why LGB insists on using such a mish-mash of scales. They seem to have some phobia about not telling people about what they do.

Just why can't they come clean and call a spade a spade and start showing in the catalogue what scale is being used. European metre gauge is easy - thats 1:22.5. For the other stuff if it's a mish-mash of scales they could, in the beginning, say close to 1:29 or 1:31 or whatever.

They should then start a policy of producing all new releases to a recognised set of scales - 1:29 for US-outline Standard Gauge, maybe 1:20.3 for US narrow gauge (like Bachmann and others) and 1:whatever for European Standard Gauge. After a period of time we would end up witha range of scale models. Sometimes a compromise maybe needed in the length of cars - easy - do what Roco do in HO - produce them at 1:92.5 or 1:100 and show this in the catalogue.

Ok, rant over........ I like the look of the P42DC but don't really have any space for a rake of Amtrak cars (when they appear!!!). What I would like is a psuedo-New Haven livery loco to pull my rake of New England freight cars!! Don't all scream....it's my railway and I run what I enjoy running. A New Haven livey P42DC (or whatever model it is) would make a change from running my Boston & Maine SD9 or New Haven S4..........

...and talking about another LGB model, I wanted to get a RhB G3/4 but without the "Heidi" name painted on the front. Because of this I did not pre-order the model. I'm glad I didn't because when I saw the model when it was released it had a very shiny plasticky-look boiler. It was a real turn-off and when I saw the LGB Representatives at the recent G-Scale Society Exhibition in the UK I told them so. I'm not the only one who expressed this view and I think LGB have lost some sales because of this.

....but I'm not that worried about not getting the LGB G3/4....because I've just managed to get hold of one of the Kiss G3/4 Rhatia locomotives....and it's great.....the paint finish is superb. Now if LGB released the next version of Heidi (Heidi-less of course!!) in a paint finish similar to the Kiss I would definitely get whatever LGB produce......
