I prefer to read reviews--any product, not just trains--where the reviewer is using an off-the-shelf item available to any of us. Reviews based on a product provided by the manufacturer have little credibility in my view, aside from providing a descriptive overview of the item. The few product reviews I did for "Classic Toy Trains" and "O Gauge Railroading" in the past were all based on products I actually went out and bought at a hobby shop, or ordered via mail order.
