Flicker circuits for lighting on indoor and outdoor layouts

I need help to find flicker and special efx circuits for interiors, camp fires, hobo fires, arc welder, back smith forge, candle, lamps, gas lights, camp lights, signal crossings, light house, fire flies, marquee chaser lights, airport landing lights etc.
I want to use both small bulbs and LEDs with the circuits and some must be battery powered while others can use 110VAC transformers or unregulated DC supplies.
Does anyone have a solution that is low cost and easy to use?
How about circuits for do it yourself?
Thanks,
Jamie Shourt

Here is a G scale Ginger Bread house with lights (no flicker circuits yet!)

ok..Model Railroader ran a how-to on flickering fire simulation in May 1992 by D. Derek Verner; but it involved using the static from an AM-FM radio headphone jack for power, (amazingly realistic, but not practical). Except for pre-built units from circuitron or JM, that's the only one I can think of.
I'm currently going through my collection of such items spanning the past 15 years, and will let you know if anything surfaces

I done a google and found this site...
I see what you mean by audio powerd.
The "Technique - Audio into LED" looks like a pretty neat idea.
