Paint Help
Posted by Snoq. Pass RR on Sunday, December 25, 2005 2:29 PM
I have a 2-8-0 Consolidation with some paint removed on cab below the window on the fireman’s side. This was painted over, but can still be seen. Can anyone help me fix this?

Hi,
A big hello from the right side of the pond!! It can be quite awkward fixing paint chips, especially ones that are uneven. If you want to do it with paint then even up the edges with a craft knife, mask the existing paint and build up with several layers of spray. Alternatively look at Ozark miniatures site and you will see they sell white metal patches with rivet detail, fix one/two of these over the bad paint and paint them with either a spray or brush wash of thinned paint. This way gives you a unique loco and you can then go on and look at their other stuff, boiler steps etc. You could also use styrene to patch over and paint that but the Ozark stuff will look better.
Have fun,
Cheers,
Kim
