Massoth
Posted by kimbrit on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 2:19 AM
Hi guys,
When I visited Sandy at Scotish Garden Railways he showed me some lighting kits from Massoth, the suppliers of LGB electronics. www.massoth.de
I ordered some and they have now arrived, 2 of the 160mm and 1 of the 100mm. The 160's are heading for the Bachmann coaches and the 100 for their caboose, hopefully I will start fitting them tonight & I will keep you updated. They are priced around £10 and if what I have heard is true they are magnificent in operation.Cheers,
Kim

Hi guys,

Took me half an hour to fit the lights in the caboose, not bad really, needs anothe 100mm to do the job properly. Anyway took some pics as I went along:

This is me with it stripped down, love winter, I get to use the dining table!

This is the LGB pick up axle in place on one of the bogies, one on each and boy does it improve rolling!

Light board in place and styrene holding the cables. As stated I need to add anothe 100mm or put a 160mm in, haven't made my mind up yet.

Not a brilliant shot, I fitted a security light at weekend and whilst it's good for me going to the shed etc it drowned out the light a bit. It does show that another board is needed on the left hand side. Looks a lot better than it appears here.
I think I'll do a coach tomorrow night!

Cheers,
Kim

Kim,
Could you send me a clear picture of the wheel pickup bit please.
I'm seriously considering making some wheel pickups of my own.
The idea I have is pretty simple ,easily built, and easily put in an envelope to stop people being ripped off.
Apart from the wheel pickups,it costs me about £1.50 to light my trams (about 10 bulbs )
E-mail me and we'll discuss it further if you want.

Hi guys,

Done one of my Bachmann coaches using a 160mm in the seating area and 100mm in the baggage. Looks good I think! A few extra track side bits I've bought in the pics as well. TROY, the shot I took of the axle is crap, so I haven't included it, I'll do another.

This is a POLA 'Lanz Bulldog' tractor being driven by one of the Longarm family. This is Cat Longarm and he has a brother who's a Police Officer, he's known as 'Longarm of the law'!!

These Massoth units are very good and for what you get not badly priced. There is a connector at each end of the printed circuit board to allow through wiring and I've used styrene to clamp them in place. All in all I'm very pleased but now let's see what Troy has planned for us!

Cheers,
Kim
