Where can I get Bachmann Trucks?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 18, 2005 3:00 PM
I have some Scientific Toys Locomotives, "the Famous Sow's Ears..." and I want to change the trucks on the tender to bachmann ones, or at least some tw axle trucks.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but will LGB trucks work?

I know....I know, you can polish a turd, but these are my TURDS!

Anything will work Captain as long as you can make them fit.
I'd say Bachmann ones would be cheaper.Try some bids on old coaches on e-bay.Dump the top and use the trucks.
This is going to be my next move I think.

Low bid on Bachmann cars on e-bay, or maybe better low bid those New Bright freight cars, the US style ones with 4 axle bogies, those usually go for $5to $10 bucks each, just watch the shipping charges, if there not listed, skip it!

Are the new bright ones workable? If so how? Right now I have some jury-rigged things going with the Scientific Stuff.

They might just screw right in, given that NB and Scientific trains are very much alike. After removing the LGB like side journals and unscrewing the axle mounts, I added Bachmann trucks to my Scientific car chassis by simply adding a spacer plate on top of the truck, even used the same screw but it varied a little car to car. Did a post way long ago about it, but I didnt include any pics. I might have sent you some pic's last year about this?
