Hi mac4884 I don't quite know how to tell you this but Thomas and friends are based on real locomotives. Thomas is based on a LNER 060 tank locomotive James I think is a LMS 2p Daisy on a Metropolitan Cammel railcar Toby a Y6 tram locomotive Duck is a panier tank of the GWR Bill and Ben are industrial locomotives Hunslets I think. I am talking the proper Thomas by rev Audery not the modern over comersialised rubbish I assume by your not real remark you are from the USA and have littlel or no interest in what you would call overseas prototypes, I am sure the US would have its own train caracters meant for children regards John
