Hi ragnar
All model railway scales have a letter designation so F is just the letter given to 1:20.3
"G" is the exeption not being a true scale
But a mish mash of diferent scale models and toys all lumped in together by inconciderate manufacturers for the benefit of thier sales.
You will notice none of the manufactures put a scale on thier packaging.
regards John

It is NMRA's attempt to get a handle on the multitude of scales which run on 45mm track.
Welllllllllllllllll, we used to have an excellent PM (stands for Prime Minister) here in Canada. He was once accused of using the "F" word in parliament; to which the Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau replied something like: "Perhaps you heard fuddle-duddle" (I'm paraphrasing, it's been a long time![;)][:)][:)] )
That was one of the expressions which came to mind when I studied the revised NMRA scale standards as they apply to large scale. [;)][:)][:)]
I'm glad that there are NEM standards!
Cheers HJ
