R/C & Battery pwr for B'mann 2-8-0
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 31, 2004 10:13 AM
Just getting started in 1:20.3 scale and do not have a locomotive yet. My primary choice is Bachmann's new release 38T Shay. I have a video coming from Bob Hartford "Modifying the Bachmann Shay " which I thought would give me a leg up on installing the r/c gear. Plan on getting an Airwire 900 system as the r/c unit. Yesterday I saw a Bachmann 2-8-0 for possible consideration, and was wondering if anyone on the forum has had experience installing r/c in one and what suggestions they might have? Fun!

Hi Pat.

Here are pdf files of the instructions I supply with two of my installation kits.
Although they refer to my RCS R/C the basic principles of installing battery R/C are the same no matter which brand of R/C you choose.

The Shay:

The Bachmann 2-8-0:

I hope these are of some help getting set up.

Best wishes,

Tony Walsham (RCS).

Hello Tony,
Thanks you very much. I appreciate you sharing the pointers to your documents with us, especially after me mentioning a competing r/c system. The least I can now do is study the specs on your RCS system. Thanks again.
Best wishes for the New Year.

Another good system is the CVP Products' AirWire900 wireless, battery-powered, DCC. Check the CVP Web site at http://www.cvpusa.com and then click on the AirWire900 link for information about it.
