I don't know how many of you people are interested in the above subject but we have been able to arrange a double house swap in Europe and will be gone for most of July all August and most of September as we have done a double header swap.

The house swaps also includes a car swap as well. Try going into google and look up homelink. we are swapping with UK 54708 and DE 007565 and we are AU 9827

Would be interested to hear what others thik of this

Ian, I'll swap now! Especially after shoveling 8 to 12" of snow this evening. Leave your trains and bring your layout building tools and email a RR construction material list of stuff you need. The wheel barrow is empty for mixing Jigstone material. What size work gloves do you and Doreen wear?

When you return from your adventure please share with us how the houseswap worked out for you and some of the details of how it's done. BTW, what is DE?, Denmark?

DE? Germany, I think. Deutschland.

Yes thats correct AU is Australia, DE is Germany and UK is Geat Britain and Northern Irelend.. But where we are in Germany we can get to several other countries in a matter of hours ie Holland, Denmark, Belgium, and a few of the old Eastern Block countries. Within half to a full day, the likes of Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Czech and Poland etc.

Of course from Chelmsford we can get to Scotland and Wales quite easily and its only 45 minin the train to London, Ireland is another matter and we will see it another trip.

We also have two weeks in Normanday and it looks just incredinble. Ian is learning German and Doreen, French,: I think I have it the easiest. but they say if you give it a try at least, the locals will respond and try to help you.


This is even more foriegn to us Aussies than you Americans: Australia has no border with any other country and those that we are near, just arent that pallatable; ie PNG (Papua New Guinea) and of course Indonesia, we can leave our mates the Kiwis out of this but we are an Island and have a very islolated view on things


I will keep everyone advised as i go, if not when we get back.

I was in Normandy for the 50th anniversary of D-day with the 29th Division, 1/246th Field Artillery. The French government gave us all credit cards and everything was on the house for two weeks. I think we just about bankrupted the country, but they owed us a lot anyway. The old people were in tears, the young were jerks, but then again, they're French. While youre there, look around on the beaches, you can still find helmets and belt buckles. It's a sad place, but the countryside is very pretty. Good luck![oX)]

No mate thanks for the interest, It hit the coast on northern Western Australia no people just a few disgruntled camels.

Talking about camels did you know that in the states of Western Australia and Northern Territory, camels are regarded as road vehicles and must display the usual lighting ie tail lights and clearance lights.

A bloke even lost his car drivers licence for operating a camel under the influence of alchohol.


Another thing, did you know Australian camels are the fastest, largest and most disease free in the world. i told you blokes we have more of nothing than any other country or continent.
