Hi fellow time travellers,
I worked in the Falklands in the mid 80's and we had time zones there like you've never seen. The islands themselves work on 2 time zones, Stanley follows the UK and alters its clock for summer time whilst the rest of the islands (called the camp) don't bother and stay at the winter time. To maximise daylight hours on the construction camps we had our own time. Part of my job was to drive the camp boss to Stanley 3 times per week so we would start the drive in the construction camp at 10:00 and within 1 mile the time would be 08:00. The drive to Stanley would take a while and we would arrive there about 2 hours later (on a good day) when it would be 11:00 Stanley summer time. The return trip was..........well, I'll let you work it out. The good part was the pub was open when I got to Stanley.
Cheers,
Dr. Who
[tup]
