Hi all--one question and I hope it has a simple answer: I want to build a point-to-point trolley of about 8 feet on my outdoor layout. Nothing fancy, just for a small trolley to go from one end, pause for a few seconds and then reverse to the other end. No curves, just about 7 or 8 straights. I'm looking at the LGB 10151 track sections. And I see one of the two sections has the electronics built in. My question is do I need a special control for the locomotive to reverse or does the wired track do this? Can I use any power supply/speed controller? And can I run standard LGB track in between? And if any of you have experience with this track, I'd really be interested in your views. As always, thanks very much!

According to the instruction manual it will do what you intend completely automatically. No added wireing, no power switching, just sit back and watch. If you do not have the manual, look here.

You do need a unit that will reverse the track polarity, the 10151 is just a piece of track with a gap and some versions have a diode installed.
This will not reverse the track polarity, it just stops the train in one direction.
A reversing run needs a diode section at each end and a timed reversing power in the middle. There are several mfg advertising in this magazine that make these including LGB but may not advertise that specific unit.
