Hi all,

I'm running all LBG European equip. I like ease of use with the grandchildren, 4 & 6. I've added hook to both ends of all cars.

Have any of you found a easy method of uncoupling other than the double spring setup? I've seen many hand held devices for use with american style couplers that allow you to use anywhere. I'm looking for something along that line.

If I understood your message right, you were looking for a hand held device that would uncouple a hook and loop, where both wagons had a hook? Hmm, I know your problem, when only one wagon has got the hook, you can uncouple reasonably easy, but when both have a hook you end up picking one of the wagons up and screwing it around before both of those damn hook will let go!

We use an old credit card (or plastic of similar size) nailed to a stick of wood. You will find that the gap between where the loops meet on each wagon should be just enough to slip the credit card in. When you pu***he card down it pushes down both hooks at once, then you move one wagon forward, remove the card and drive the train way.

The stick of wood was so that you do the whole operation standing up (if track was at ground level). Hope you can understand all this.

Do you have a credit or bank card? Just push down between the two coupler loops with a credit card, and hold down as you pull the cars apart. This is the cheapest solution I have found. I was told this at a hobby shop in Phoenix, Arizona, so don't send the money to me since I didn't come up with this idea. It works, though.

A putty knife or spatula with a one-inch wide blade works too and gives a little reach between the cars.

Didnt LGB have a manual uncoupler that snapped onto the track? It had a lever on the side of the track that when pressed raised the uncoupler enough to uncouple the cars? They might still make this, I would check out there website under "track ".

Listen mate this is standard proceedure here in Ausssieland, hooks and loops on bothe ends, its the only way to go, with LGB. Easily the best tool to use to uncouple is a paddle pop stick, thats what i use. Its better than any other device and cheap, you could even give your grandkids the paddle pops themselves and keep th stick for yourself.

i have lots of usat with hook and loop on the locos and instead of changing to aristo knuclke couplers. i use a transfer car and it's hard to uncouple double hook and loop coupler and i run my RR raised track at 42 inch above the foor it has worked great because im in a power chair. i use a piece of piano wire pushing down on the hooks between the loop's and push back the rolling stock. because trying to push usat loco has rubber tyres and dont roll well and could mess up my gears. but thanks guys there all good ideas the putty thingy ,hamburger flipper,credit card all great ideas .
