Open House
Posted by Marty Cozad on Thursday, October 7, 2004 8:45 PM
We'll I should have posted this earilier, but we are having a live steam "steam-up" here Oct 9 ,10th
Some folks from different web sites and about 6 states. Sounds like great weather and should have a good turn out. I'll post photos later.
If you've never had an open house , its easy, just start with two couples and run trains and have snacks. Open house does NOT mean alot of people, it means fun sharing your trains.[;)]

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

If I left now I could be there around 8:00 eastern standard time. 12 hr 13 min drive.[:D] or 792.54 miles. That's two tanks of gas and 1 1/2 packs of smokes and at least 2 1/2 pots of coffee[:D]

had about 6 shays running, the main problem is they ran out of fuel to soon on our 460 ft lower line.

Here the guys are helping a new comer to live steam.

Jerry Barns scratch built live steamer

Shad Pulley from My Large scale.com dropped by to run his gunderson train ,,with mine.

So we finally got to have our ribbon cutting for the MLS canyon bridge

Great weather and good run times. 3 train wrecks, nothing major. When you have 6 trains going at once and folks talking ,,anything can happen.
More photos later.
This is a great hobby.

It happens to the best of us.

Live steam in the early cool AM sunshine. I bet Kevin Strong wishes he was here now.

I guess everyone wants to plan another weekend for next year. I have lots to do before then.

Stan ran his Prescott Canyon tour train.

I ended up buy a wind sock to see which way it is blowing hardest. Sunday around noon, we had to put the container train away cause of the wind..

Marty puts on a great open house. Everyone had a great time running trains and fellowship. If you can I encourage you to have or go to a open house. Thanks Marty for a wonderful weekend.

P.S. I'm the one setting the train back on the tracks after hitting the stalled train in front of me.

Hey Matt,
Marty's line is huge. If I recall correctly he said around 1500' when we were there. The upper loop is VERY long. We were'nt able to run on that one due to all the rain he had prior to our visit. Marty and his family are wonderfull hosts. I can easily see why the guys want to come back next year. Marty even built an area for the live steam guys to set up and get things heated on their equipment. Can hardly wait till the day we can head out that way again. This hobby is awesome! Later eh...Brian.

Then I was right the other day when I said he was the Aristocraft poster child[:p], and that they ought to just give him the track, rolling stock, engines, etc![:D]

There is a bloke here in Australia called Kevin King from a place called bBargo about 10 km south west of Sydney and he has a layout so big the main straight is said to be 100 m (110 yards) long and he rides a horse to get around it all. I have not seen it myself but I have heard.

However Marty's layout is awsome and very well done.

Matt
, Aristo has been kind enough to keep my #2 NTCGRR on their website,, "articals and Photos," see "Seasons in Nebraska"
I had a fence around it cause all the neighbor kids came to our house to plan.
Ian, if I had more $$$$, I know it would be bigger. But now the yard and weed work is getting to much.
I love to creat scenes around the the track for the trains to pass through..
IThe hobby has been good to me, and its fun sharing.

Benny click on this thread by spankybird he explains very well how to do it. You pictures have to reside on the web somewhere though. He includes a site from which you post your pictures on.
