LGB 1201 Switch Motors
Posted by dwbeckett on Sunday, June 2, 2013 6:57 AM

Yesterday I spent about 3 hours tuning my 4-1201's. I have 3 of the older type's and one newer version. They  are not made the same. the older types a have plane cover with blackened screw's ( cross point ) and if you left them outside in lots of rain they are rusted NOT GOOD. The newer version has Stainless steel screws, no rust, This IS GOOD. I had to drill out the rusted screws to remove the cover's. The wire hold down's are also the same rusted steel and are not easy to remove. After a good cleaning I lubed all the moving parts with white lithium grease. I installed new Stainless Steel #3/48 screw's. at cost of  20 cent's each. The cost was well worth it. If you are wondering why I did this, it was because of the dirt that accumulated inside the switch motors. from the rain splashing superfine balest  on everything that was on the ground. Yes too much of a good thing is bad. I will try to post a picture after I figure out how to download from my NEW tablet.

Found my Camera, charging it now. My Tablet is a convertible tablet/notebook best of both world's almost, need to add a 64gb flash card to improve memory. The things you learn after you get something .

I forgot to add, when you are putting the switch motors back together make sure the tab on the gear is centered and the actuator arm is set to left or right of center to get full movement. also when the  switch motor is mounted on a aristo switch make sure you get the full movement when the arm is to the rail. you may have to trim some off. NEW TYPE only.
