Posted by balusita on Sunday, May 19, 2013 10:46 AM

Hi fellow modelers,

I am a  "G"  trains modeller and I Live in Argentina , South America, I would like to get  advise on a train show recommendation  to visit ( Let´s say June/July/August) in the USA , Last  year assisted to two events , One in Ontario California and the other in Saint Charles,  I do not remember the state.

I enjoy workshops , Home layout visits , retailer sales, etc .

Any advise please?

Thanks

Hello Juan,

The show you mentioned in St. Charles, Illinois was the annual national convention. This year's national convention is in Ohio from June 5-9. Here is their website: http://ngrc2013.com/

From June 24-29 in New Mexico, there is an anniversary convention hosted by the Big Train Operator's Club: http://www.bigtrainoperator.com/2013SantaFe/index.shtml

In Portland, Oregon there is a regional meet hosted by the Rose City Garden Railway Society June 28-30: http://www.rcgrs.com/west%20coast%20meet.html

There may be some other regional events we're not aware of--I hope others chime in to let you know.

I consider the ECLSTS at the end of March to be the best G only show in the USA.

Get info at eclsts.com and also at the Aristocraft forum.

The Big Train Show, in Ontario, Ca. may be the same show you mentioned, it was originally an all G show, but today its an ALL scale but its still about 50-60% large scale.

Its coming up fast, June 1 & 2 at the Ontario Convention Center, I'll be there with my tiny layout.

After that....there wont really be anything large scale out here again save the SWGRS (SouthWest Garden Railway Show) in November.

   Have fun with your trains
