Need Help Identifying 2 Structures
Posted by scrimjimmy on Sunday, April 28, 2013 2:00 PM

Hello I purchased 2 buildings at a train show yesterday and I have no clue who made them. Both look to be made from the same manufacturer. Any help identifying them would be appreciated. I got them for a bargain, $23 for the pair.

Thanks so much.

I'm no expert . In comparing some of the features in your pictures to some of my "Store bought" buildings

I'd venture to guess LGB/Pola.

Don't believe everything you think!

My first thought was Colorado Model Structures

http://www.coloradomodel.com/

Second look at the “split cedar shingles” is not something carried by CMS, but more like some PIKO roofing. A quick search did not find any current PIKO listings. I am making an assumption here, you did look at the bottom and inside for trade marks? Most PIKO (not all) have trademarks and part numbers on the bottom, or inside walls. The “boardwalk porch” on both look the same size (?) and shape. If so, and if they are PIKO the part number will match (may be the only marking on the bottom), as PIKO uses “standardized” items wherever possible.

The “Early American” looks pretty much rules out POLA, as their structures are primarily European in nature. Less than 5% of their product line is American. POLA also uses the standardized parts numbers on the bottom, but generally have their brand name as well.

I have looked inside the structures, there are no markings at all, no part numbers or anything. They look similar to a Korber Models structure I already have but am unsure as they do not match anything I have seen of theirs.

Those are both from Korber models, I had the top one at one time. The little bit of brickwork  at the foundations are the dead giveaway. Korber have been in and out of LS a couple times now, they are mostly HO and O.

The lower was a Shanty from a few years ago and no longer offered. The top was sold as this one:

It has an MSRP of $59.00 so for both you got a really good deal.

   Have fun with your trains
