I'm trying to put an AirWire system into an NW-2 but the Tenergy 18650 battery is a bit too large to cram into the hood. My plan is to mount the G2 decoder vertically near the front of the hood and put the battery right behind it. The speaker prevents a battery from going below the engine.
Hopefully someone else has done this and can either post a photo of their arrangement of the pieces and/or specify a battery they've used.
A 2200 mah pack is plenty; I tend not to run for hours between charges.

First, how many volts? I was just on all-battery.com the other day, and they've got good prices on some of the alternative shape Li-Ion packs in the 14.8 volt size. They have one that's 2x2, so it's longer but skinnier than the typical 4x1 pack. That should fit nicely behind the G-2 board, and only be around 2" longer.

14.x volts.
Is this the one you referenced?

I had looked at a few at that site but they seem to like "flat" packs that are either 2x2 (lengthwise) or 4x1, neither of which makes good use of the space under the hood. The 2x2 is a tad over 5 inches long, so it's a bit too long. Another option is to have the G2 and battery pack parallel to each other but staggered so as to minimize the area where they are next to each other.
A perfect pack would be two groups of two cells on top of each other. That is plenty narrow to fit, not too tall, and still leaves room front-to-back. I was hoping someone had found exactly the right battery or had photos of how they squeezed it all into the hood.
Thanks for the advice; I might get one of those longer ones and play around with packaging to find a good mounting for the receiver, battery and sound decoder.
Yes, that's the one I was thinking of. I can't think of a reason why you can't overlap the G2 and the battery fully under the hood. I know there are those who say it's not recommended, but I've never noticed any adverse effects from doing so. I do a lot of tight installations where the batteries are right next to the control boards.
Check RLD Hobbies web site. Robby has a 14.8 Volt 2000 mah Sanyo Lithium Prismatic battery pack that is very small.
