Wild Flowers on the Little River Rail Road

Wild Flowers in the Great Smoky Mountains

Dr Theodore, Botanist at The University of Tennessee, makes his annual Spring wildflower pilgrimage in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Each year he finds a unique specimen to take back to the lab in Knoxville.

But what is the whole crew of 2147 doing stopping the train and tramping on into the verdant forest?

Seems they like pretty flowers too for their girlfriends and wives back in Townsend and are going to pick them too.

Happy Easter

Hi Smoky,

I live in Clarksville Tennessee but am originally from East Tennessee also. I do make it over your way to Townsend for "field research" as much as possible. I really like the great museum of the LRRR at Townsend Tn. Of the course the ride from Townsend to Elkmont is spectacular and does follow the old LRRR road bed.

I am modeling the Townsend to Elkmont run in my Large Scale layout.

Here is a shot of 2147 working gondolas with track ballast in the Smoky Mountains (in the back yard).
