Makita batteries

I recently bought two new model 9033 Makita 9.6 volt Ni-mh stick batteries for my cordless drill. I also bought a new charger - model DC1411. The batteries and charger are NI-mh. I think I will try them in my Aristo SD-45. Has anyone tried using these batteries?

I haven't tried the Makita batteries, but Radio Shack 9.6 Volt NiCad race car batteries were not powerful enough to operate my Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation. Most locomotives need 12 Volts or more to run well, unless you want to run very slow.
