I am looking to do a computer controlled layout. I really like the MTH and the Lionel automated couplers. Are there any others who make these items in DCC? Also are there any DCC controlers like ESU that will control their trains? I am thinking of using freiwald train controller system if there are other ideas on that as well. Jordan
You can use these couplers in G scale, and LGB has some too. You can make almost any DCC decoder run them.
I'm a bit confused about your second question... there's tons of DCC controllers like ESU to control trains... or are you asking if there is an ESU-like controller to run MTH and Lionel?
I run DCC, and my automated stuff uses JMRI, which is free...

My secound question is if there are any DCC controllers that will run MTH DCS/ Protosound 3.0 trains, or the Lionel trains. I like some of their locomotives, but am unsure if they will work with what I have in mind.
So LGB makes a coupler that will unlock using decoder commands? It will be expensive but I want to put them on all the cars so that I can use an automated computer control that will set up the connsists and maybe run a few routes while I control another train separatley with causing problems.
How do you like JMRI? What can you do with it? Can you run on Automation at the same time as a handheld controller?

Doubt that you will find anything that will give full effect ops for MTH. They have kept their system proprietary and tend to be agressive, lawsuit wise, when they feel someone has copied/infringed on their operating systems.
Being primarily a three rail person I like their product and system although at times it can be frustrating.

That is what I have been seeing. Do you know of another online automated controller that will run their trains, while one controls another train?
Also do you know if their decoder couplers can be put on cars, with a decoder and still work with the controller?
I have been using MTH/DS2 control on most of my locomotives, including 5 Aristo engines that I converted to MTH/PS2 with the MTH Upgrade Kit. I also have 4 Aristo locomotives with the Aristo Revolution Control. Both system can be run at the same time on the same track by using both hand held controlers, one in each hand.
MTH locomotives come with remote control "Coil Couplers" . To date the "G Gauge" production has all been "PS2". This year MTH introduced the new "PS3" system to "HO" and "O" gauge. Will it be in "G" ?? The "PS3" has, built in, both MTH/DCS receiver/decoder AND a NMRA "DCC" receiver/decoder. Great for "HO", better if it's extended to "G Gauge".

How expensive was it in total to buy the PS2 with the aristo engines?
I am looking at probably going with MTH or lionel O gauge, but I want to use either of their remote couplers on stock cars. I have not found a kit that MTH sales. Do You know If they sell their remote couplers seperatly?
Thanks for helping to answer some of my questions. Jordan

I have bought and like Aristo-Craft engines. I then bought the MTH/PS2 Upgrade Kit for "G Scale" (list $180, net $150) and installed it. (40 pages of instruction) Once installed, you use your computer to "download" the sound file of your choice.
