Can some one out there help me? I bought an aristo pacific loco through e-bay only to find out that it has a L.G.B. sound card and I was advised not to run it due to the crest 10 amp pulse controllers that I have. I was told that the pulse system will fry the sound card, and this was verified by Lewis Polk and he informed me that the problem will be attended to in a couple of months. I really don't want to wait that long, so is there anybody out there who knows of a way around the problem without a great deal of money being spent?

A different power supply that doesn't have pulse power, such as an MRC power pack for O or HO scale layouts could possibly substitute for a short period of time, if you have one or know someone who will loan it to you. We ran a G-scale Bachmann train set on an open house weekend using an MRC HO pack.
I too have Aristo Pacific that has sound that I have not run because I don't have an Aristo pulse weith controler can I run the sound unit on dc?
The head is gray, hands don't work , back is weak, legs give out, eyes are gone, money go's and my wife still love's Me.

I made a sound car out of an Aristo two bay hopper to go behind a little loco. The sound unit I used was a Sierra unit. IT did not work at all correctly under pulse power from just an Aristo Transformer or a TE set on pulse power. So I bought a used MRC transformer and run it under linear power and the sound works just fine. I have also found that Sierra cards in all my other locos require linear power as well. They are run on track power also with an Aristo TE set on linear power.So I believe that these are your solutions too.

I have four Sierra sound units, 2 USA GP9s, 1 USA F3 and 1 Aristo 2-8-2 Mikado. I run track power using an Aristo 10 amp Ultima powering an Aristo 27 Meg Hz TE using the switch in the pwc position without problem. I don’t know anything about the LGB sound card. The Sierra card is powered by its own battery which is charged through a bridge rectifier or similar device. Thus charging the battery and isolating the sound card from the pulse width control voltage. Of course you can always run the TE in the linier position.

Thank you guys for your information, I have found one of my freinds that will loan me a Train engineer till I find something more permanent. I was looking for some kind of a converter that could go betwean the controller and the track or before the sound card itself. I have 3 tracks with 3 10 amp controllers I do not want to limit myself to using one track only.

Not to be a strong promoter of battery power, but you could build a battery car, with a single TE in it, and run on linear on any of your tracks. I have one, but don't use it much. Otherwise if you stay with track power, and want to control your trains separately on each track, you are going to have a TE on each track.
