I put the decals on that I made from some pictures of the No 1 replica. I did change the lettering to SCRR No 1 for my truck though. I used clear laser decal paper, then put it on white vinyl, shot it with clear matte, then peeled off the backing and stuck them on. I was real tired of the brown plastic 'wood' that Bachman supplies so I shot it with some Krylon gray primer, put a wash of india ink/alcohol and dusted the whole thing with Bragdon chalks. Had fun!

Looks good! What do you have in the back-electronics gear? Just curious.
Thanks guys. The rail truck has one big black box in the back that is the electronics. I tapped into that for a DPDT switch, so it can be battery power or track power, the switch is in the lighter colored box, there is also a 9.6 volt battery pack. I don't use R/C on it, just flick the switch and off it goes. Track power is R/C.
Jerry, beautiful work. Thanks for sharing. I have a question. Can you explain what you mean by,
I used clear laser decal paper, then put it on white vinyl, shot it with clear matte, then peeled off the backing and stuck them on.
Does this mean that you did the decal with a black background and the lettering left clear and then you applied that to the vinyl?
Bob
Yes Bob, that is correct. The white areas printed clear on the clear decal paper, with the black around it. I put the decal onto white vinyl and after it was dry, shot it with some clear matte. Then cut around the black, used a black marker on the edges then that showed a little white. Peeled off the white vinyl(get scraps at a sign shop) and stuck it on the truck.
I never would have thought of that if you had not talked about doing it. That's a great idea. I'll have to see if I can do it. I've used white decal paper to do white lettering by trying to match the background color to the car side, but it never looks quite right. I'm going to give this a try it should make a big improvement of my car lettering.
