Tips and Tricks
Posted by Marty Cozad on Saturday, June 12, 2004 9:44 PM
Rene
very nicely done....[^]
The cover is very eye catching.
My only thought is: some of the tips may need to be exsponded on. But i know you only have so much room.
it does cover many of the common Questions that i have had to deal with.
i notice there are many ideas w/o names. Are they from your X files?[;)]
Thanks for sending one.
i hope I did not let the cat out of the bag too soon.[:I]

I have read many of his post from different places and know people who know him even though myself and Marty have never spoke.

Hi Rene,
Well done as usual! Very professional looking indeed. Don't worry Marty....a few of us have these on hand. Some of the contributions came from forum members. The rest I believe were from GR readers and staff at GR. Neat booklet to have on hand. Later eh...Brian.

Marty,

The booklet isn't a secret anymore! Some of the tips were from forum members, some were from the GR staff, some from Marc H.--even a couple from me. I sent all the forum members who contributed a free booklet. These booklets are going to be bagged with the August issue's newstand copy, and will probably be used in others ways down the road. It was exciting to see it come to be.

Rene
" even a couple from me"??? I'm sure you know alot more about this hobby than you let on.
I would like to get ahold of some to hand out ( to folks who ask Qs) at shows. I could have used 4 of them this past weekend. These folks had already started and as I always do, invite them down to run trains. But very few ever show up.
If you and your " close " friend ever travel this way let me know I can take off work and run trains for ya.
Marc e-mailed me awhile back that one of the stuff was going to be in Omaha NE, I told him we are only 45 min south. DROP BY.

Marty,

Welllllll, the couple of tips from me seem puny in comparison to what Marc knows. I am not worthy![bow][:D][:D]

Just so you know, you (or anyone) can request free copies of our beginner booklet to pass out at shows, clinics, whatever. Just drop me a line and I'll get them out. I'll check and see if I can get you a few tips booklets, and email you directly when I know more.

Hmmm, not sure who was going to be in Omaha--it's not me.[:(] Thank you for the invite. I'll definately keep that in mind.

Hi Rene,
I just now opened my copy of your tips booklet......it got buried under a bunch of junk mail. It's a thrill to have some of my tips appear in print; I'm glad you could use them.

I plan to show the booklet around at our open house on June 19th......hav'n fun.....OLD DAD

OLD Dad
Put your real name in the profile. I didn't see any "OLDDAD's" in the tips.

Steve,

This is a new (just off the press) booklet that Garden Railways put out. It will be bagged with the August 2004 issues on the newstands, plus it will be used for subscriber premiums. I had posted a note here, asking for tip submissions, and several folks sent us items that are now published. They each received a copy of the booklet, so that's where the discussion is coming from.

Ian,
Are you responsible for the "sub tropics" tips?

The tips on "Garden railway etiquette" really caught my eye. We attended an open house a while ago where SIX children were running amuck while the parents looked on without saying a word.
My brave little wife finally had enough and disciplined a couple of them.

HAY!!! You stole my idea...... Just joking. Shop safety, not sure what that is....If you don't use duck tape, watch the Red/Greed show and have an air gun nail sticking out your arm. Then your not tring...
If women can't find you handsome, then at-less they will find you handy.
.
.PS When Rene asked for tips on here. I had a hard time thinking of any. But after reading the flier, i realize how much i take for granted. Plus how many folks use the same basic tips.
The only problem i see with new folks is ; its easier to aks Qs and find the answers than to enjoy figuring it out.

I think I should have been in the pictures, I have shot myself in the arm. Duct tape and a lunch napkin do make a good bandage. Lacquer thinner does coterize most small wounds. I do practice saftey but I beleive my everyday use of power/hand tools raises my percentage on getting injured.
Allthough I do have very few nerves left in hands due to scare tissue.[B)]
