Early Lionel LS Production
Posted by palallin on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 11:43 AM

Does anyone know of a list--especially online--of early (i.e. '80s/'90s) Lionel LS production, particularly the NG stuff?  I'm trying to find some part numbers, and Lionel's site is only partly helpful (since these trains are really orphans).  Thanksfor any help you can offer!

 Hi palatin,

Since the large-scale Lionel stuff sort of falls between the cracks, I checked with Classic Toy Trains. They know of no such list (unless a devoted hobbyist has personally compiled one somewhere?) available. If you know the product number, it may be in the Greenberg Pocket Price Guide for Lionel, but that guide doesn't have a separate listing/section for Lionel large scale. It simply would be mixed in with the other product numbers.

A sort of update for you. The CTT fellows have told me that there is a chapter of Lionel LS in the Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains, 1970-1991, Volume II. Unfortunately, the list is current until only 1991, and the book is out of print.

Thanks, Rene!  I also dug out an article in the 3/98 issue of CTT that has some of the info.  Between the two sources, i should be able to find what I need.
