Trailers for my trucks

Santa dropped off a couple of "Ozark Miniatures" so I had a bit of construction to do.

Ever notice that it takes $180 worth of clamps to glue up a $35 kit?

Work crew meanders around the bridge wondering why the company sent two empty gravel cars half way up the bridge.

Close up shows just how dirty these cars can get.

ATTENTION Rivet Counters: You can turn your computers OFF in 5…4…3…2…1…now!

I’ve been exploring with different color paints. I’ve come up with something that is acceptable to my relaxed standards for D&RGW "Grande Gold". OK, so it’s latex house paint. Interior house paint at that, and I’ve thinned it down with 20% water. As you can see on the side and end beams on the picture above this color comes pretty dog gone close. The outside of the sideboards were also painted this color but after dirtying it up the color changed quite a bit. The deck of the car was lightly painted with Krylon Ruddy brown, just enough to cause the grain to raise. I rubbed in some pastel chalk to simulate the dirt. Some black, touch of red, bit more of orange and yellow, with a whole bunch of white. Each color was rubbed in before the next color was added.

If anyone is interested in my version of "Grande Gold" here is the formula.

Quart of "Accent Base" (Base 3);  Kx - 21.5;  Axx- 2Y8.5;  C - 15.5;  F – 3.0
