My Visit to the Holiday Express at the University of Tennessee
Posted by railroadboy on Sunday, December 20, 2009 1:31 PM

First of all, this place is HUGE! I'm talking about a 60x40 layout. Everything is G-Scale, scenery is very big, and most every engine has sound.

I was a little mad that they didn't get out the steam engines, there were shays, mikados' and I think I saw a challenger.

Great experience.

I didn't take pictures because I forgot my camera.

There WERE steam engines running at the Holiday Express  every day!

The UT and Christmas trains were pulled by LGB 0-4-0's and ran constantly during the entire run.  Also a large range if larger steam engines (Shay, Climax, Mogul, Forney, Mallet, Mountain, Pacific, and  a 0-6-0) were run on various occasions during the seven week run.  Two of the longer tracks (of 12 total) had something diffrent running on them often.

Maybe return visits would have found steam to your liking.

Is this still running?  I will be there about the 23rd and would try and see it.  Where is it exactly?

Thanks

Paul
