I work at the South Carlonina Welcome Center located on I-26 eastbound. For the month of December I set up a small G-Scale Christmas layout. It's been a huge success for us. Lots of parents with children have come in as well as older folks feeling nostaligic have enjoyed it.
The layout has also drawn in people who normally wouldn't come into the center and don't know about the services we offer. Not only do they enjoy the layout, but they may also come back to us again. It's also given us a vehicle to promote railroad attractions in our state. I've even had a few people say they were going to get out their old trains when they get home! To top it all off, I made a list of 10 tips for people building holiday layouts that we hand out.
