Going to the Denver convention?

Interesting that I just saw the "Denver Convention" thread, and I had planned to do this poll for this week. Thoughts on going to the convention?

I have to say that personally, I find them a lot more fun than a typical train show. Not only do you have the show floor, but you get to travel around the area and see people's railways.

As you know we are working on that! Would be just awesome to get together with a group down there. Photos and story swapping. I always enjoy seeing what others have done. Have never actually seen live steam in Large Scale form so that would be a major treat. Later eh...Brian.

Live steam in large scale is pretty neat. I remember seeing it for the first time at a convention a few years ago. It was neat to hear a locomotive with a "natural" sound system!

I would love to go, but the budget doesn't allow it at this stage. For the price of tickets, room and food for me the wife and the Boo (our daughter) I could have a lot of necessary things for my layout (i.e. more money for the fence, at least one new Bachmann locomotive or even some Aristocraft track ...its a bit sad that I am so enthralled with the hobby that I think in terms of Large Scale catalog prices).

Maybe next year, but we can still learn and better get to know each other (all of us) in that time on this forum. It is with that knowledge that I am not saddened by not being able to go.

How about next year's convention at Padre Island in Brownsville or Corpus Christi? Good weather (save hurricanes[:D]) for setting up an awesome layout!

When you go to the show make sure that the sellers produce more online shops available to UK customers.Prices are so high over here due to lack of competition we can only look and be very envious.After looking at the prices in the US there is no excuse for not making a garden railway.

You got that right. I could hardly contain myself while at the MWLSTS. Wayyyyy too many bargains to be had. For instance Aristo FA1's could be had for as little as 99 bucks US! I bought a Sierra sound system for my Shay along with 3 skeleton log cars. The plastic logs will get tossed or given away. I already cut up a load for each car after digging through my firewood pile. Would it pay to have it shipped from the US for you? Capt. C: Glad you know we can always meet at another show. Keep on postin' and we'll keep on answerin'. Later eh...Brian.

I would like to go to Denver this year to release and show a new range of RCS products.

However Jennifer, my significant other, wants to go to the UK in 2005 to visit her brother and elderly mother, so Denver is not to be.
Unfortunately I cannot afford to do both shows so Chicago it will be next year.
If you see an attractive 62 yo shortish dark haired woman with a smile on her face at the Chicago show, it will be Jennifer either enjoying herself, or impatiently waiting for the show to finish and her boring agony to stop.

Wish we could go back to Denver this year but plans have been made to go to WDW in Florida. We did manage to attend the "94 convention in Denver and had a great time, saw some fantastic layouts and picked up a bunch of ideas. For the folks who can go your in for a treat.

Our first GR Convention was in Denver in 88 and my wife Elaine and I are really looking forward to going back! After that convention we were really hooked on garden railroading. Remember when we first got started we could call Marc on phone for advice and help.

We usually alternate going to GR Convention and the LGBMRRC Convention. Lucky for us, the LGB Club is in our backyard (CT) this yearand we can do both.

Wont do Denver this year, would if the convention was ever down in this corner of the country though...just have to suffer by with the Big Train Show this weekend! [;)]
