I'm really new at this. In looking at a plan for a stock car they mention using flat wire. What is it or where can I get it?
Goat: Flat wire is just what it says. Where to get a roll, I do not know. One of the forum members found some a while back, if he does not respond here you could scroll through the old posts. On the odd occasion where I have needed a bit, I just strip the insulation off of a piece of copper electric wire and beat it flat with a hammer on the anvil on my vise. Beating the wire flat leaves some rather distinctive marks which look more realistic, at least to me.

Goat,
Flatwire can be obtained from gunsmithing outlets. It is used partcularly in gun stock inlay work for black powder firearms. one source would be Dixie Gun Works, check here. http://www.dixiegun.com/
It is usually available in brass, silver, and German Silver in varying thicknesses.

Thank you for your help.
You could also go to the hobby ship and purchase some thin brass strip stock, like what K&S might have. That should work too. Metal is metal, and it will conduct electricity as long as you make solid connections to it like soldering or screwing.
