track cleaning question
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, April 17, 2004 10:53 AM
Hi,
I saw a product for a G scale track cleaner that looks like a flat car with an LGB track cleaning block mounted inside of it, manufactured by Overhead Railways.
Any reviews for this by anyone? Also saw some pads from LGB that mount on the bottom of the loco. What about those? Other than a track cleaning loco, can you give me any tips?
thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich
I do not know if LGB still make them there used to be a set of pads that fitted to a four wheel car that LGB make lots of..
This was the cheapest way of getting a track cleaner as it fitted to any of the four wheeled cars they make.
I have tried the aristocraft track cleaner but as I use LGB track found it fouled on and derailed on the track boxes for isolater tracks.
If you have an LGB four wheeled car preferably one of there bright yellow or bright orange ones get the track cleaning atachment and fit it too one of those as it only cleans the rails and doesn't foul on the track boxes it should work on most brands of track.

Hi,

One of the methods I use is to 'drag behind' a weighted 'ScotchBrite' Pad.

Sometimes soaked with IPA.

Kind regards,

Goetz. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GARDEN-RAILWAYS-RAILROADS/

Scotchbright pad on a modified sander pole normally used for drywall.

Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
