I work at a pediatrics practice that is installing a 120 foot elevated point to point run in G scale.
I am looking for suggestions on a throttle/power pack for this point topoint run. I am trying to keep things simple, but the trains will be running 8 hours a day. I will definitely purchase a backup of whaterver works well for our needs.
I may run two locomotives together. So far we have an Aristocraft 0-4-0, an LGB Streetcar and an LGB 5 unit LCE passenger train. According to the information I have the LCE passenger train was modified to have two power cars. That is the situation under which I may run two locomotives. Thanks in advance.
I am going to recommend the MRC Power G for you. Simple to use, 10 amps of power and not too expensive - http://www.ehobbies.com/mrcag990.html.

Brian, that looks like a good choice, I have a MRC 6200 and it's not quite enough power for two locos (four motors) running continuous.

The 10 amp MRC should do the job quite well. I would also suggest looking into the Split Jaw Multiple Stop Reversing unit.

Thanks for the information. I had already been looking into the Power G so I think that is what I will go with. I already purchased an auto-reversing unit that someone recommended to me, but will keep your suggestion in mind in case what I get does not work as expected.
Sounds like you have everything in "go status".
Especially when it is up and running.

Forgive my newbie question here, but this unit is a speed controller AND a power supply? I've been looking to upgrade my speed controller from the basic one I got from my starter pack, but when I read about them sometimes it seems like you need two separate units. Electricity is not my strong suit.
Yes, its all in one -
Thanks for the quick reply!
i use the mrc a990 for my mainline, running 3 to 5 locomotives and a tech II railmaster 2400 for my mainyard and trolley yard. in combination, they give me enough power to play to my heart's content together with my son. in this way we both can enjoy running my indoor layout--

The MRC Power G is a very good power and control pack. I have run up to 3 locos Bruce
