Need some inspiration and a little bit of help with a bash

Alright, so I'm getting into G heavily after my HO is near finished... and i'm ready to dive right in...  But I need some inspiration,  I love the little MACK switchers from HLW and after seeing an article about making one a side-rod type loco I had some ideas, but would like to see what others have succeeded in with this little workhorse.  Also any photos of bashes with Davenport or Plymouth style switchers would be greatly appreciated as well.

Now, my question with a kitbash...does any company make an 0-4-0 steam loco that's outside frame?  I desperately want to build a version of this engine (  http://www.trainweb.org/jlsrr/product-reviews/0-4-4-0t/0-4-4-0t.jpg) since I cant find it anywhere to buy it.

THAT is a Saxony Meyer!!! It is possibly the most common Meyer ever built... The item in the photo is the LGB one and I would think that there must be more than a few of them dotted around the dealers stores? I built a Meyer based on IP Engineering Chassis and later re-built it with Finnish style chain drive. The outside plate frame chassis is very simple to modify and to fit either Hackworth's or Joy's valve gear, (WARNING! if you decide on Joy's valve gear you must start with that -as a retrofit is impossible!!!)

meyer

This is fitted with the Hackworth valve gear and is made from K&S section and 3mm nuts and bolts. It is quite a powerful loco and is capable of 85N from its 4 motors.

I've been unable to find any online anywhere, and when I do find them the asking price is around $3000(!)  So I think building one would be more economical. :)  Thanks for all the info though!

Well the only ones that I can find here in the UK are at the £850 mark. But if you want to build one I do have drawings for one -the problem is that the notes are in OLD GERMAN SCRIPT... If you examine the home page of the Cabbage Patch Railway you will find the 10 articles called, "Kitchen Sink Engineering", these should give you ability to build your own Meyer. I think the task should be within most kitchen  workshops ability(?)

Have fun and let me know if there is anything you need!!!
