When the extension to the Culcreuch Fold Garden Railway was started, a station was in the scheme. Wanting something a little different I chose to make a representation of the station that was situated at Burkes, just north of Dunedin, in the South Island. This station backed on to the sea, had a wooden platform, three buildings and a urinal. Looking at the station from the track the buildings, from right to left were, Station Agent's Office, Signal Box, Passenger Shelter and behind a fence, the urinal.Construction was from Precision Board in bevel backed weatherboard profile. This material was purchased at the Garden Railway Convention in Las Vegas in 2007.The various wall sections were cut on the bench saw and the joints mitred. The window openings were milled out.The following photos will show progress to date.First mill out window opening
The signal box components on the bench
From left to right: Passenger Shelter, Signal Box and Station Agent's Office. These were assembled with Gorilla glue and Grex headless pins
The buildings with the corner boxes and door frames fitted. These were glues and pinned.
Buildings temporarily in place on platform.
The platform is now in place in the garden and the buildings pose for a photo.
The three right hand buildings are for the station and have been primed inside and out. The other two buildings are an office and goods shed. These will be the subject of of another scratchbuilding report
The partially painted Station Agent's Office poses for effectThe bridge will be the subject of another post.
One has to run trains
Signal Box glazing almost complete. The glazing is made up from 3mm Perspex with 2mm x 1mm styrene for the mullions.
"Spring has sprung, the grass has riss": and the daffodils were on show.
Completed Signal Box and Station Agent's Office in final position
And now joined by the Passenger Shelter. Great shovel leaners on this railway
The urinal fencing being tested for fit.
Urinal fencing painted and placed in position. Only a widdle way to go now .
The urinal finished and ready for installation. Can't wait.
Wee!! What a relief.
New crib wall to retain ballast. Only steps at each end of platform and platform lights to be installed. The buildings are all fitted with lights.
This is the original Burkes station on the line north out of Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand. Photo coutesy of NZ Model Railway Guild

Thank you for your comments. The railway is in it's early stages as yet with not much in the way of buildings etc. Will post progress photos of the bridge that stands next to the station.
Ian
Ian,
Like to see more of the RR because that just makes the WOW factor go up with those buildings there!
Where are you located?
Toad
Hi Toad
I live in Masterton, in the south east of the North Island, New Zealand. The RR has only been under construction for two years.
Boulder Station
Extension toward location of station described
A friend helping with track preparation
Track laying under way
Watering the ballast into place. The station is between the turnout (switch) and the concrete formwork for the bridge abutments
First train over the line. I will provide photos of the bridge construction shortly
Hi
Looks real good are you going to make the signal? in the photo of the real station.
How do passengers access the station there doesn't appear to be a ramp.
regards John Busby
You be a Maori? Great shots of the rail line!!!
Ian: looks to me like you are a lot farther along than I was at two years. Look'n good, keep it up.

ToadFrog&WhiteLightn You be a Maori? Great shots of the rail line!!! Toad
No. Third generation Kiwi of Scottish extraction.
As part of our Scottish heritage, Hogmanay is celebrated on 31 December each year. Generally this is held outdoors in the garden, but in 2006 a hall was hired due to storm weather.
Ian & Ann are shown here with a friend, Wayne Haste of Tawa, another Garden Railroader, on the right.
Regards
Hi John
Passengers will access the platform via steps at the right hand end and by a ramp at the left.
The signals will be set in place after some ground work behind the station is completed
