KMRR gets a mine
Posted by SNOWSHOE on Friday, September 19, 2008 1:56 PM

After getting a nice morning hike in I got motivated to start working on a mine.  I got my last 3 ft section a straight track.  This completed my siding out to the mine.  The mine went very fast to build.  Took a few hours to complete.  Now I have to  make some nice tip cars that will rust nice when left outside and hang two lanterns outside the mine entrance. .  Here are some pictures.

Shawn

Lookin good! As you said "Now I have to make some nice tip cars that will rust nice when left outside and hang two lanterns outside the mine entrance." I would suggest using copper sheeting to build your cars, it is easy enough to solder together, and when placed outside it weathers out rather quickly. If you are into a bit of humor, might I be so bold as to suggest putting one of the lanterns you talk about on top of a "red barrel clearly marked EXPLOSIVES".

I like that idea.  I am in ther process of painting  a few barrels.  I will have to see how I can get explosives written on a small barrel with the lantern on top.  Cool idea.

Try your local Office Depot, Staples or other stationary store.  The all sell rubber stamps, look for a "build your own kit".  Granted this will fade out rather quickly but it is easy enough to re do.
