Picture Posting Question....
Posted by hoofe116 on Saturday, August 9, 2008 9:29 PM

I'm tired and not at my best as I post this.

Brian, thanks for your efforts to help this retard to get pixes up.

Why doesn't this site offer (for $$ $) a picture site? Over on another site, for 1st class membership, one gets all sorts of bennies--most useless to me--including picture hosting. I have to assume that a picture on the same site one wishes to post in would be simple to transfer. At any rate, I posted the Webmaster some days ago and haven't yet gotten a response, which is why I'm posing the question here. Also because it's come up again, and also because my daughter has been too busy to come over and set it all up and show me how to work it.

This is a nice site. I'd pay a yearly fee if I could simply transfer my pictures from a storage hole on site into any given current post, hopefully by mousing an icon that says something like, oh ... "Click here to add a picture to this post". Something obvious. Then my album would open up, I'd click on a given pic, and things would all fall neatly into place.

Yeah, I'm aware the world isn't a simple place. Never was, never will be. And that I'm at the age where all this keyboarding is more than I want to take on.

I'm pretty tired. Heading for the rack. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Go to a site such as photobucket (www.photobucket.com ), and upload pictures from your computer to it. then right click, click on properties, and copy the html code (ends in jpg). then type in , or go to the little picture sign when you write a post that's at the top of the toolbars, and paste the url there, and hit insert. Hope this helps.

I understand your frustration Les. It took me awhile to get the hang of posting especially with all the forums using different software and standards. There are a few large scale sites like the English G Scale Mad and the Aristo forums that will let you upload an image from your computer. I know that is a feature that MLS is going to try and incorporate (a 1st class only feature, I think, a bene you could use) with some much needed user friendly upgrades in the next couple of months. Also, a new text editor is in the works (one that looks surprisingly like the one above!).

PS - I know the webmaster over there was going to be on an East Coast biz trip this weekend away from home.

Brian,

You must know someone else.  Wink [;)] Guess whose reply showed up this morning in my mailbox? On a Sunday, no less. (But that could be server clog, or whatever they call it). From what I gather of the description, it's so close to what I envisioned that I'm almost suspicious. Yes, at MLS one can get space, and transfer pixes to any other site one wishes as well as entering same into posts on that board. Not so at LSOL, but I never go there anyway.

Of course one pays for this, but I will pay a reasonable fee. I think it's included in the 1st class membership, if I understand the post correctly. (Emphasis on 'if'.)

Whatever. They have what I want, that's good. Business can be transacted. I have to trundle over there and see what the cost is. Been meaning to upgrade to 1st class, but I wanted to float around for awhile to see how congenial the various boards are. Apparently they are either well-monitored or, like here, consist mostly of basically congenial folk.

Gonna rack out. Thanks for taking time to explain stuff.

Over at LargeScaleCentral, you can get 5 MB for free.   No need for any tags when posting links or pictures.    You can get 125 MB for $20/year.
