Nice.

I have one of those, but never run it anymore.  Too modern for the era I ended up going with.

One thing I wanted to add, when I was running it, was a small dial decal for the air line indicator.  Kind of boring painted yellow.

Closed vestibule meaning 3082?  They are tough to get and when you do they are pricey.  I think they were only manufactured for 2 years, as opposed to the open vestibule D&RGW coaches that have been offered in many runs over many years.  I have two 3082's and painted them green Shock [:O]

Do you know what year they were converted to observation car's?

I have 1 3082 & 3083 but I want to get another 8082 and remove one of the closed vestibule's to use it as a parlor car (I got the idea from you) Smile [:)]

I also have a 4075 Drovers Caboose, 3084 (#126) baggage and 30815 (#210) combine

The LGB car (#404) dates to 1964.

I'm trying to stay as much in 1950-early 1951 as possible.  These were the only years when the green San Juan ran at the same time as the yellow Silverton.

You've got a pretty good LGB coach collection so far.  If I was going to do anymore passenger cars I'd like to get a 3083.  I'd convert one end to an open platform and try to duplicate D&RGW B1.

Impressive! Do the marker lights light up? Excellent workmanship and the concept is great: if ya can't get what you want, make it.

Byron - Thanks ill have to check into that I do have alot of empty seats and as my 2yr old nephew puts it best "Wheres all the people?" Tongue [:P]

Dave - Now if I could only figure out where to hide 2 C batterys... hehe that lighting rig you put on that RGS caboose is the best Bow [bow]

Les - No they dont light up, there isnt any real easy way to hide the wires so idk if I will

Matt - I was thinking of doing somthing like that too, If I ever get my hands on another 3082 I want to install the closed end I remove from it on my 4075 Drovers Caboose Black Eye [B)]

Toad - Well to be honest I didnt do all that much work just popped the roof off pulled all the brass rod roof supports out, rattle canned them black and bombed them with clearcoat. Superglued the marker lights on the end support rod waited for that to dry and used a black paint marker to paint over the glue then bombed that with clearcoat, took a union break and shortly thereafter put it all back together. Thanks though Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Mr. A., that looks very much like the cars they run on the Verde Canyon RR, except they have chain link fence sides so you can see through!

Lets see now, a couple of F units repainted, some parlor cars & coaches interspersed with the open obs cars, and we can model the Verde Canyon.

I tried finding some pictures of Verde Canyon RR but im having trouble finding a clear picture of the cars your talking about, i found one clip on youtube that shows what looks like open car's that had 2 sections of roof. you said the sides are fence? are they like flatcars that just have a fence built up on the sides?

lots of tourist rr's have there own versions of open observation car's, I like the rider gondola's they have at Cumbres & Toltec and at Knotts berry farm also the Royal Gorge Route has some interesting open observation car's too

Well, if you're getting too much attention you could always post this over in the scratch n bash section where most posts gets ignored Sad [:(].

To populate your car get a set of these figures -

http://cgi.ebay.com/40x-Building-Model-Trains-1-25-Scale-Painted-Figures-G_W0QQitemZ380048126744QQihZ025QQ

They are okay for mass use as the paint jobs are a little sloppy but touch up nicely. Standing figures can be made to sit with the use of a heat gun. I just did a bunch for my USA overton cars and LGB trolley. You'll need to touch up the paint are using the heat gun. they are the same as the one labelled "Plastruct" in the pic below. The USA figures mentioned above are way too small at about 1:32 (or smaller). They work okay with 1:29 cars like Aristo heavyweights.

Well i didnt want to post it over there because all I really did was paint a couple brass rods and slap some LGB markers lamps on a LGB car I dont really think that qualifies as a kitbash and I didnt want anyone to think I actually did much to it as I really didnt just wanted to show off my nifty new car Tongue [:P]

thanks of the link and picture of the different sizes! OMG those USA figures are TINY! Ridge Road has them listed as 1:29 Shock [:O]

Are you sure the Aristo figures arnt more 1:24ish to go with the "classic" stuff?

They're pretty small.  They look OK in LGB coaches, but that's about it in the 1:24-1:22.5 scales.  In your open gondola they'd be too small.  I'd say they are closer to 1:29.  The USA figures are super tiny.  I thought they were O scale the first time I saw them Shock [:O]

I like Pola and Preiser figures with LGB cars, especially in open cars where you see them.  However both have become extremely expensive lately.  Pola used to have somewhat affordable seated figures that were great for use with LGB sized equipment.  But I haven't seen any sets under $35.00 for a while Disapprove [V]

When Alt. is right about bash and yours is a bash and you say this.....makes me not want to post again untill you learn posting Etiquette and while on subject homes and all too go under kitbash. You, Mr. Ash, redid the car making it a bash!

I didnt redo anything the car looks exactly the same as it did when I got it, I paint all brass on all of my locomotives & rollingstock black because IMO brass looks like crap. Besides that all I did was add LGB lights to an LGB car I did not modify the car in any way

Toad you know what I dont get? You were all like "Good Job" and never said anything about posting in the wrong section when you thought I did more work but when you find out I did next to no work its "Wrong Forum thats a bash!!1!" that makes absolutely ZERO SENSE WHAT SO EVER. This is a "Look what I just bought off ebay" post NOT a "Look what I just scratch built/bashed" post Sign - Dots [#dots]

I know this thread is 2 years old ... but does anyone know where I can get this car, what it is called, or what the part # is (if they still make it)? LGB doesn't seem to have an english web site and google isnt giving me anything.

Thanks

Wow a real blast from the past.

You want to look for LGB #3026 (sometimes as #30260).  It has long been out of production so you'll have to look around to find them.  I found one on eBay:
