Here are some pictures of some really great full scale railroads:
This is the Oslo to Bergen express
We changed trains to what was once a cog train but is now an electric running a 15% down grade on resistor brakes:
Here are some pictures along that 15% grade route:
This is a typical street car:
While not a true railroad this cable car run was on rails:
And of course as tourists we could resist riding Thomas:
Enjoy,
Rex
Those are some neat pictures, and makes you wonder how the motive power handles 15% grade. Even if they didn't have trains Norway is a beautiful country. I was there in 1990 and had plans to take the train from Oslo to Trondheim but a 24 hour flight delay cost me the train ride. On the way to Bergen did you go through a very long tunnel?
Lee
Yes there were some very long tunnels on the Oslo Bergen route. Norway is mostly very solid rock so tunnels don't need much shoring. The fiords are deep too. We were on a cruise ship that went into some of those very narrow and deep fiords.
The heat sinks were very large on the loco to burn off that 15% braking grade.
Rex,
Great time had as it looks like! Think I saw the RR on RDFTV on Saturdays @ 8:00am.
Glade someone can go places!!
