Those with the Bachmann K-27 Question

I picked up a K-27 and noticed 2 metal pins in the cab on the right side. Just above the floor boards below the engineers seat. Coming from the cab wall. They seem out of place. I'm thinking the pins are to hold a detail peice (possibly a step?) that might be missing, not sure.

I looked through the parts diagram and did not see anything. Can someone take a look and let me know if I'm missing something. If not, are they protoypical?

Also can someone recommend on which Labelle lubrication I could use for my first run. I have 102, 108 & PTFE grease sitting around. Not sure what is appropriate.

Not sure about the pins I will check 464 when I get home from work this afternoon, as far as lube just watch the DVD that came with the loco theres a bit on what to use

Are you sure those arnt the mounting pegs from some detail part on the outside of the cab?

lol when I got home from work first thing I did was stick an engineer figure in the cab of my K his left hand with the hole actually slides onto the throttle lever? doesnt look to bad! What engine did you get? Mine is 464 with the snowplow

I picked up the Western 455. I was going to post some pictures, but my camera just failed on me.

I will post some pics over the weekend with a different camera.

I could not get the figure's hand to slide through the throttle. I did not want to force it.

Have you detailed your K-27. If so, I'm curious on what you did and with what detail parts. This is a first for me with  Large Scale (I collect Japanese N Scale) so I'm still unsure what is commercially available for detailing. I'm about to start weathering and some detailing my 2-8-0 Consolidation, which should be a decent first project.

I havent done anything to mine yet detail wise besides stick that lil engineer in the cab, if your engineer's hand wont go onto the throttle try to run a small drillbit through the hole to open it up better. Im waiting for Bachmann to release the other pilots for seperate purchase I want to switch out my plow for a road pilot like the real 464 currently has on. Im no good at weathering so aside from possably adding a real coal load IDK what im going to do..

I even went upto the Huckleberry RR in Flint Michigan at Crossroads Village and visited the real K27 464 a few times to try and get some idea's but im stumped they keep the engine fairly clean, atleast DRGW.org has a bunch of pictures of the engine when it was in service

They have a few of 455 http://www.drgw.org/data/steam/history/drg455.htm also IDK who filmed but I have seen the video on ebay a couple times. Anyway a while back when K27 463 was still running the Cumbres & Toltec renumbered it 455 and repainted the tender with the RGS sunrise herald along with there long caboose as RGS 0404 might want to look into that!

  If you want to see a realy nice K 27 go over to mylargescale.com and check the modeling thread-page 4  detailing a Bman K 27 by John McGuyer.

  Also look up the thread by Kevan Strong on the 2-8-0 he finished for his dad.
