One of the hardest things to find in G scale are kits for building structures. So, what I have resorted to is visiting my local hobby shops and checking out HO structures. At the Whistle Stop in Pasadena, for example, the owner gave me permission to photograph HO structures on their layout and custom made structures from a variety of angles. Then, using one wall from a G Scale POLA structure as a guide, I set out to build whatever structure I need using the measurements of the wall and window and door openings. The first building I put together was a mountain cabin. Since then, I have built over 10 buildings and scenery effects (two stations, newsstand, fire house, City Park, two Victorians, theatre, pet store, waterfall, forest fire, campground, produce stand, tunnel and more. Check out www.deloropacific.org for photos of my structures under the headings of "Main Street USA," "U.S. Forest Service," and "Stations." If you want, I can send plans of getting started.
