Miss leading, I guess....
Posted by Marty Cozad on Friday, May 30, 2008 5:11 PM

I opened up my e-mail after work and saw a note from Garden Railways, magizine.

I thought cool

Get Inspired by great layouts!!

WOOW this sounds good.

Its only indoor small scales. disappointed again. I thought since they done away with photo contest they would have a layout book or something.

Bummer, I guess I'm getting to be an old grouch.

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Long live Outdoor Model Railroading.

I concur. A poor bit of marketing on GR's part.

Marty (and others),

I too had this question when I saw that email, so I sent a note to our circulation team. This is the response I received, with their permission to post:

We discovered that on average for the past 5 years, 7% of GR subscribers have also purchased GMR (Great Model Railroads).

Statistics can be very deceiving. Garden Railways magazine only puts out 6 issues a year. So what does one do  when he would like to read more about garden railroading? He might even purchase any model railroad magazine to fill that desire. I know that I am guilty of buying the odd model railroad magazine. Dennis.

Now to what I use to subscribe to it intill the Plans went out of GR and the other Bird mag ya'll have I dropped them because above.

Now I look at the mags GMRs at the shop and if it is a good one I will buy but only if it is a good one!

Other than that % they can stick! Like to see more open plans and have others (no names) open there plans to all who enjoy GRRing on this forum. But like the big K sayes it is the bottom line. Or was that Marc?

Toad - very bad subject to bring up!

Yepo, Dennis only 6 a year! Slow production I guess % wise as GMR mag!? They can put it out 12 in other why not GRW? But I do buy over inflated priced books like The Narrow Gauge Annual, etc..published by the great K!

I predict money for all the magazines will go up. Point blank. Statistics or not. Still same thing and later might even go to online magazine. Which is what I had suspected when the Plans was pulled so they could go this route if they wished.

Toad - % of Toads in the pond? You go figure.
