Material for scratchbuilding structures

Garden Railways had a article on a material used in sign shops that is weatherproof, easily cut, etc.  Can't remember month (within last year) and haven't been able to find the article.  Help!  Thanks.  John Easterwood, Copperas Cove, TX.

You probably mean the article on working with Precision board, a high density urethane. That was in the August issue last year.

You will find a thread called Structure Building class101, this details a structure from go to whoa, built from core flute which I think is what you are talking about???

When articles about new materials in GRR are given, one of the items that should be discussed is price. For instance, if a particular material is expensive, that should be weighed (at least for some with a budget)

In the State of Texas where people are building there new houses and most places have "Land Sell" signs up these signs are (if) they are on the right of way of the State are illegeal and to me are fair game.

Same signs we (some of us) make the buildings out of.

The article also did mention it is a more expensive material to work with than wood.

Tufboard can be used for some applications. It is a plastic composite and not too expensive at Home Depot. I just finished a turntable using it for the base and bridge. I used a plastic compatible spray paint with no problems. Just need to solder wires and add the track leads when it is placed on the layout.
