ok, I grew up around horses, and they are like g scale, they come in many shapes and sizes, I mention this as you said you want to use them on your layout. You do not intend on running horses on the track. Keep them away from the track, this is a good rule in real life also. It is everyones perogative to do what they will with their own layout. People seldom see that the houses next to our track are in fact birdhouses. I want to model a grain elevator on my layout,as I built them for 10 years, but in reality if I did it to scale, I would have 8 ft tall silos, so I will fudge a little. I started building my layout after I got married, it gives me and my wife something we can do together, we have little knowledge of actual practices of railroading, but we enjoy running out trains. My point is, I don't have the funds to buy a lot of scenery items, we just find things that work. The birdhouses we have are a schoolhouse and an old farmhouse. We have a couple of garden gnomes fishing, we try to think outside of the box, and we feel good about the outcome of our fruits so far. It is as we make it. Hope it all works out. Good luck!

Hi there. I'm new here. The only model train I've had so far is a small N-scale set. I've recently been looking into making a garden railway. I'm most interested in doing things in 1:32 scale, which seems to be extremely hard to find. It seems the new MTH RailKing is in this size... but it's hard to find accessories or plans of that scale. Anyone have any references they can recommend? Also, which other scales will work with 1:32--in case I need to mix-and-match? I don't want anything that looks out-of-proportion.

Well I'm pretty much obcessed with gauge 1 Model railroading and have built a rather extensive 1/32 scale railroad covering 2 acres.  MTH , Accucraft , Aster, have 1/32 locomotives.  Check out Llagus valley track and switches or Sunset valley Pete Comley track and switches,  cars and rolling stock from Accucraft, MTH, and other sources.    I have hundreds of freight cars and may be 100 passenger cars some custom built, some Accucraft , Some scratch built, Way to many locomotives --Fine Arts, Accucraft, MTH, ASTER.  Join "Gauge ONE Model Railroad Association".  They have an excellent News magazine & Journal and advertisement for 1/32 scale locomotives and rolling stock , track etc.

Email me at dwsflpe@earthlink.net  and I can give you more help and send you some photos.  Send a letter to Gary Raymond--He is sort of the center guy for a lot of us in 1/32 scale.  Our railroad is the Florida Central Railroad and primarily a New York Central division but we run Sante Fe, NYC, Pennsy and Union Pacific ---
