Aristo Rogers or Bachmn Annie
Posted by IronHoarse on Sunday, April 6, 2008 4:29 PM

Helloo Guys,

For the same amount of money Would you get an Aristo-craft Rogers or a  Bachman Annie?  If I were not on a budget I think I would get both, but I am going to have to choose one.  At least for now.

Personally, I think that the Rogers is just about the ugliest locomotive on the market. If you are fond of Aristo, you might want to look into the new redesigned c-16

BAchmann Annie, get the latest one with metal siderods and valve rods, perhaps one of the best deals still left in garden RRing. I have both, the latest Annie is the better deal.

   Have fun with your trains

If you go for the Rogers make sure it is the updated one, especially if you purchase it on ebay. They are much improved over the original release.   Jerry

Both are good engines, but do need power pickups added to the tender if not already there for running on track power.

My Annie has 1 ounce weights added to the front pilot, power pickups on the tender and it becomes a much better running engine with these 2 mods.

I have helped others with the small Aristo adding power pickups to the tender and got great results.

If going to battery operation, the Annie has a lot of room in the boiler for batteries and the weight helps it to become a real "BIG HAULER".

Batteries in a tender creates a lot of drag on an engine and it pulls less cars.

We winter in Mesquite Nevada.   I like the C-16 also but it will not be available for a while yet.  That is on my list for a second loco in the future.  I do not buy from EBay.  My purchase will likely be from Ridge Road Station. Thanks for your input guys.

Hi again,

Well I did it...I ordered the Aristo C--16, yesterday.  Funny , it was not one of my original choices.  It's the D&RWG wood burner.

Thanks to all who replied.

Say Hoarse,

I've purchased probably 50% or more of the solid 5-figures that I own from Evil-Bay, you mainly have to do your home-work in advance, and know what you wann'a buy, an what you wann'a spend, ahead'a time before bidding.

Many times if'em yer looking for a specific item manufactured awhile back, the Evil-Bay sight is the only place, TO-O-O-O......find or locate it.....

Like right now for instance, I am waiting and looking for a coupl'a the Great Northern Empire Builder, paint scheme short passenger cars, that Bachmann put out a few years back.......Anybody got any out there ????

Is the 268 the pre 1900 loco?  If so that is the one that I am getting.  I talked to my dealer today and my C-16 is being shipped today. Big Smile [:D]
