New Bright Track

I now have a strange problem.  Over the years I have picked up a couple of New Bright train sets at christmas time.  The plastic track has been hiding in a drawer in my storage shed.  All was fine until yesterday.  I found five New Bright sets at Wal~Mart on clearance at $5.00 each.  I figured five box cars for $25 not too bad, a couple of cabooses could be made into "office/starage shed", five engines(?) well maybe save a few for something else, like the neighborhood kids to run when they come over.  What to do with the track?  Seems a shame to just throw it away.  What have you guys done with the track?  All my track is LGB Brass Flex, so it is definitely not compatible.  I have an LGB R3 circle for under the Christmas Tree already, so that idea is shot.

Paint it to look like wood (using high quality UV resistant paint etc) and cover the top of the rails with a thin strip of metal and make "wood" track as per the post we have going next door.  Problem solved.

The only other thing I can think of is to send it to me and I'll take care of it for you.

Keep the straights for display track and toss the curves.

Brian; The wife came up with that idea last night.

 TJ; do you really want the curved stuff? the cost of shipping is probably more that the stuff is worth.

Mr. Ash; do you really think I could get more than a nickle per piece?

 Just found out that one of the neighbor kids got a New Bright set for christmas.  Think I'll just give it all to him.

i use it for my strorage shed yard, no sense in laying brass track indoors if the engine never goes over it. do the same thing with that cheap bachman tin can crap too...

This is what I am currently doing with my old, black, plastic Bachmann track (which might also work with New Bright).  I have painted the rails a steel color and the ties a brown color.  They actually almost look real......almost.  Then you can use them as display track, which is nice for me because almost half of my LGB track is stuck (and pretty much wasted) on display duty.  Just my two cents.
