Vinyl Lettering Help!
Posted by Benjamin Maggi on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 2:25 PM

After scratchbuilding some British railways gondolas and such, I want to letter them with vinyl lettering. The June 2007 had a great article on just how to do this. However, no place in my area (Albany, NY, 12065) will make lettering as small as I need (3/16, 1/4, etc.) And, no hobby shop in the area has any leads.

Has anyone done this before, and if so, where did they go. I don't need complex symbols or artwork, just lettering in various fonts (mainly Veranda style font.) Any links, sources, or advice on how to get this made would be great. They are all individual cars, not similar at all, so this isn't a "repeat batch, different number" type of thing.

On the other hand, if anyone can suggest a source for BRITISH style decals, I would also love to hear from you!

Finally, if Del Tapparo (the author of the article) ever goes online here and would like to contact me about this, I would also appreciate it.

Thanks!

I purchased a large batch of dry transfers from : http://www.blackhamtransfers.com/index.html#aboutus

and was very happy with them. Slide 17 here:

shows the final product

Thanks for the link! I will contact him today. I am surprised, if he has his own business, that he did not put a link to it in the article. It sure would have been helpful. Oh well, to those that patiently seek...

... Or ask online for help!
