Santa Fe's last logo info?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 1:01 AM

Seen awhile back before bn merged with SF a new logo. Was a truck or rail car white in color with "Santa Fe" in black almost like the new bn logo but no mark. Help is needed if you can.

Thanks,

Would it have been what Chris Petka refers to as the "Shouldn't Paint So Fast" logo of the brief marriage of SoPacSantaFe just prior to the BN takeover???

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to.  Was it a rail car painted white with black "new logo" lettering?  Or was the logo a white truck/rail car with black Santa Fe lettering.  Perhaps I can find a photo of it if I know it is a railcar and not a new logo per se.

I'm doubting it was SPSF related as the colors (Kodachrome) were yellow and red, not white and black, but you never know.

I'll search through my resources to see if I can find anything.  A quick glance through my Santa Fe corporate logos book came up empty.

UPDATE

It wasn't this by chance was it:

If so this was the standard paint scheme used on piggyback trailers during the 80s.

Glad to help.

I know this section is more for G scale, but if you are looking for decals here are two sets by Microscale in O and HO Scale:
