Glue

I have only ever glued one figure in place, a worker in my yard.  I like to keep the rest mobile for imaging purposes.

Woodland Scenics makes a scenic glue for figures.  You could also use a dab of tacky glue, goop, silicone caulk, as examples, although you would have to perhaps touch them up with acrylic craft paints to hide them and their sheen.  Even epoxy (really permanent) and white or yellow glues can be used.

 For general use, like car kits and model buildings that are plastic. I use good old fashion Testors. For gluing weights in side of cars, I use super Glue. I have also used Super Glue to glue on coupler pockets.

  I miss read, I thought you said Fingers, not Figures, sorry about that.

I am new to model railroading and I am starting to put my figures where I want them, and I was wondering what is thebest glue to use?

Hi... one idea you may want to consider for the figures to be 'held' in place without permanence, is to dab a drop of Microscale Micro-Krystal-Clear to the base -this is a tacky white glue that has enough adhesion property to hold the figure in place but still will allow for removal if needed, without damaging either the figure or the surface adhered to. It remains soft and rubbery texture when dry.

It is also water solubale so clean up is easy.

White glue will dry hard and usually 'pull' whatever surface its bonded to with it...this stuff will not.

Another good choice is Canopy Glue, available at most LHS(local hobby shops) -it dries clear as well and has similar adhesion qualities as the Krystal-Clear.

Woodland Scenics produces "Accent Glue" which is a tacky glue that remains tacky once cured.  You apply the "Accent Glue" to the feet (or base) of the figure, then let it cure.  Once the glue has cured you can place the figure where you want it, apply slight pressure, and it will pretty much stay put until you want to move it.  Because the glue remains tacky, you can remove and reposition the figure a few times before you need to apply more glue.  Don't expect this product to hold a figure of a giraffe on its head, but it will hold a reasonably balanced figure of a person on its feet quite well.
