Good evening all,
Thanks Chief for starting the thread early. I hope every one has a good day.
Keep on training,

Good evening from clear beautiful moon 65°F Southern Ohio,

May God bless you and you families

Morning. Out the door to Edgecombe to trim shooting lanes. Got a young man to handle pole saw. That is good as old back not the best this AM. Too much lifting working on tractor [now fixed and running good] and big bags of corn from tractor supply. Removed gas tank and washed it out. Seems they thought they had washed it out without removing it. Looked good inside. Got new strainer for gas bowl. All clean and running good now. Filled it up this time. Mow tomorrow all day.Enjoy your day.

Morning. Green Tea in my mug this morning at work. Still building 53' white boxes with TVs in them. Somebody has to do it.
Cool here again today. I'm not complaining as this is my weather.
Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Mornin' boys. Sunny and 53 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will be heading up to Cumberland, then the railyard later for some chores. Did finish painting the ceiling in nursery yesterday, then patched the scars-marks-nail holes in the upstairs hallway. Middle Princess needs to pick a color. Wifey and I power-washed and scrubbed their deck and back of house, then sat down to a nice bbq chicken dinner. I have a few small projects to finish up today.
Thoughts to all my friends hurting. Right there with you.
Afternoon folks!
Happy October! Sunny and low 80's after a cool front last night!
Got the ECM in the El Cam to power up yesterday and proper voltages for test of wiring harness (with no sensors/controls connected). The fire did not destroy the ECM. Working on next level test with some sensors/controls and in parallel getting back to the AC hoses/etc/
Regards, Roy
Afternoon all.
been a quiet day here today. Had some errands this a.m. but after that, it's just been-kick-back alley LOL.
Got more stuff removed from the train room and back into the shed :).
otherwise been keeping busy removing shrubbery that the wife wants it gone, ( well cutting it even with the ground. I will kill it later. Can only do so much at a time. The city restricts how much yard trash they will pick-up at a time.
Hope all doing well
Talk to you all later
Happy Friday EveAfter work, ran to pick up Jenni and go to Harbor Freight. That was a bust, they changed their hours and closed at 7 not 8. Had Sonic for dinner, and I brought my 1130 with me, in the off chance that Trains and Things was open. Yes it's a Scout engine, however, being an early build and semi rare (silver stamped number), I dropped it off to have the E-Unit either repaired or replaced. Looked around for a bit, will be back to purchase when the 1130 is done. Will most likely keep it as an occasional runner and display piece, like my Dad's 1666.Fire drill and we'll see if the launch from Wallop's Island is visible tonight. 938 launch time. That's all from here......

Tonight my church leadership officially cancelled our Christmas train theme outreach event. While I knew it was coming, it really hurts. Dang this virus.
Billwiz, I know the feeling. Local history museum cancelled our Halloween event, where we have ran our spooky layout the past few years. Hopefully next year. Going to the track tomorrow. Foyt team had some bad luck in qualifying. Will see what happens in the first race. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good evening from cloudy 55°F Southern Ohio,
Beautiful outside even with the clouds. Real busy at work. We’ve hired 13 operators and we’re training them. Today's classes were Operation of Auxiliary Substations and Operation of the Emergency Standby Generators. In additions to the new construction ramping up. As far as the kitchen remodel, I have the three pantry cabinets cut down and I hope to get them installed tomorrow. It is official now; the River Days parade that was cancelled on Labor Day will be combined with the Winterfest parade the end of November. So I’ll frame the back wall for the float maybe Saturday and cut grass. No football game this weekend, schools closed due to positive covid cases increasing.
Mornin' FellasCooler temps are definitely appreciated. TheQ has me researching options to finish the nook in the great room. Found a place online that sells base cabinets that are precut to 18 inches deep (space is 51" wide x 19" deep). Figure that will be nice as it will leave an inch overhang for the top. Not sure how I'll do shelves for above the cabinet (don't want wall cabinets)... thinking 3/8" thick tempered glass set over a 3 sided frame, maybe 1 arm coming off the back for center support. Also need to start planning the new Christmas Train Garden for under the tree... fun times!

Morning. Out the door to Louisburg and FIL's. Ride the 140 most of the day. Going to burn the big burn pile out back. They lured me up there with promise of hotdogs on the coals.Nice cool but warming fast day.At my favorite stand. In the rain. They are there every day. BUT, mostly early morning before light. [time stamp is 12 hours off.]Enjoy your day.
TGIF - !!!!At lunch, yesterday, I ran over to pick up my phone and I needed to verify my gmail account. I didn't have my other phone or my tablet and couldn't verify the phone. I paid and brought it home. Annnnnnndddddd......it won't boot up. Extremely frustrated. I renewed my paid phone, grudgingly. Jenni stopped by after fire drill (nice to get back to some sense of normalcy), we had a bite to eat then she took the phone. She lives closer to the phone repair guy, she'll drop it off. My hours really suck, 930-630, and this leaves me no time to do things after work. Tonight will run over to Jenni's and return the faucet we bought last week (it's a 4 hole) and get a 3 hole with sprayer. I'll remove the hoses to make sure we have this done in 1 sitting. Tomorrow I have to run up into the attic and get Mom's house decorated for Halloween. I plan to reinforce the foam tombstones with Liquid Nails foam glue and either some plywood or 1x3's to make them heavier and less resistant to remove themselves from the property in the wind. I'm toying with the idea of putting spikes in the wood for good measure.Saturday night more errands including fixing both push and riding mowers at Jenni's and Sunday we will cut the grass.Need to clean out Jenni's Charger and HHR. If we get time, I'll mark out a 25 X 25 area so I can level out that area for the new garage. Still looking for prebuilt, but may have to do our own building. Stay tuned
cheapclassicsBillwiz, I know the feeling. Local history museum cancelled our Halloween event, where we have ran our spooky layout the past few years.
I am putting a Halloween train together for Trick or Treaters this year. Found a nice Lionel switcher for cheap that I painted in flourescent orange, have some cars filled with pumpkins, skulls and Halloween figures, as well as our Halloween village buildings. At least Trick or Treaters can see some trains!
Then we are going to video our layouts and put a virtual train event onto YouTube, since we cannot do our thing!
Sorry to hear about your cancellation as well.
I went home today. It felt good. The best AJ's team could do was 13th, and I did not care. I was at IMS. There were Indycars on the track. The fans cheered, the engines roared, and all was right with the world. Best of all, I get to do it all again tomorrow. The pain of August will never ever leave completely, but today was the best therapy ever. I hope everyone has a good day.
I'm in the process of putting our Halloween together, essentially the same as in the photo. Depending on restrictions it will decide whether it is inside the garage with the ghouls and goblins coming in to watch and get their treat. If the worst happens it will be as close to the garage entrance as possible with a fence and the treats will be handed out from a "social distance".
Morning. Slept late for a change. Cooked scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. Lot of coffee. 65 and sunny. Low was in the high 40's. Wifey and crew cleaning outside of FIL's house today [sure getting late start]. I am being real quite. Think I've done my duty.Rode Farmall 140 mowing most of the day except when the 15+ year old belt broke on the Woods finish mower. [about time] I now know how to install a new belt on it. Didn't need Buckeye's engineering advice to do it. Got home at 9 last night.Resting and maybe Train Box stuff and a few personal chores around THIS house.
Day 2 was better. Despite an 18th place finish being the best the team could do, Foyt team gained valuable ground in race for 22nd in owner's points, which is worth over a million bucks in subsidies next year. Got to see grandson's play as well. They won and he played well. Saw Indy 11 blow their playoff spot after starting the season with 4 wins. Weather was better for the race and the crowd was bigger. Very glad to be at IMS two days in a row. Capping the day was being able to attend a complete Mass for the first time in over 7 months. Although I do enjoy the 30 minute versions in the home parish, attending a full service was very nice. Get to watch grandson tomorrow, weather permitting. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' Roy . Clear and 39 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Youngest Princess was successful with her WV driver skills test, dazzling the official with her parallel parking. She's now Licensed to Thrill.
Picked up my Halloween costume at Wally-World. Scooby Doo, of course! Put it on when I walked in to visit FifeMom, and she laughed as hard as I ever heard her when she saw me. We dined on pumpkin pie with generous topping of Redi-Whip.
Morning. 57 outside. Wifey asked for heat to be turned on to get the chill out of the house. [about time] She is always the hold out.
Agenda for today???? Changed from last night. Want me to go back to FIL's to finish a wall. We'll see. I got big three tier fountain ready to put together. Need three good lifters for bottom bowl. Then some simple wiring for pump outlet.
Special prayers for Roy. [anoundced he has cancer]
Hope all have a great week ahead.
Hey guys - some of you know through other sources. I have been diagnosed with cancer - been though lotsa tests last several weeks to confirm. I go for a PET whole body scan tomorrow to see where it may have progressed - hopefully not far - so far it is a Stage 1 diagnosis and is one that is potentially "cureable" and is rare to recur. A new challenge! I will do my best to keep folks up to date and next 2 weeks may be busy. Take care all!
Prayers and Love Roy,,, Go figure, and just when you start to have fun.

Good Evening,
Had a conversation with Roy earlier this evening, he sounds really good, and of course is very optimistic and positive. (Typical for him). As he said in his post has a PET Scan tomorrow to get an indication of any additional concern. Hopefully the worst he will have to go through is tonsil surgery, and an ice cream diet for a few days. When I hear anything more I will certainly put up a post.
Fife, congrats to your Princess on passing her test! As you know now the real concerns beging.
Our situation here is definetely changing, Kay and I are getting re-acquainted again, and not getting on each other!!'s nerves yet. Sounds like her Mom's internment will be Oct 22.. Service is going to be a graveside service for family, as requested. Kay has been extremely busy with notifications, and all the other required details. Disposition of her parents house will be relatively easy, I think. Kay inherited the house and we are going to let Chris rent it. That appears to be a win-win situation. He will be paying rent, plus property tax, utilities, & property insurance. AND everyone is on board with it.
Watched the Nascar races at Talledega this week-end, they are always exciting! Today was no exception.
Weather has cooled down some, and the days are definetly getting shorter. It is actually pretty comfortable, and they are getting control of the fires.
All for now, Take care ALL!!
Prayers for Roy!!
Don
Prayers for Roy. I hope all goes well with your diagnosis and recovery. Grandson's team won 12-1 today. I suppose I should feel guilty for enjoying such a match, but having been on the receiving end of such a match many times over, it is nice to be on the giving end every once in a while. Watched the "real" football match I recorded from Saturday along with the race at IMS. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning. Slept late and then cooked stuffed sausage biscuits. Wifey and I watched 10 minutes of news. Then it started repeating what was on Friday. Guess they couldn't come up with anything new. Seemed good to not rush. Weather good until weekend. Farms tomorrow. Big fountain project today.
Morning all.
Had a cold front come through last evening. Some hail, winds, a very cold rain, and even some thunder.
Spent the weekend on the bike taking a trip up the river form Pittsburgh to McKeesport. About a 13 mile rid one way. Got some cool pictures of the old round house up there. All in all did about 50 miles over the weekend.
Keep you in my thoughts Roy. Hoping for a best outcome.
Everyone stay safe!
Roy - Prayers for your healing and health!!Happy Monday, gents.....I'm beat.Saturday was a full day of decorating Mom's house and other than a few different things (lights!) I'm done.Dinner at Jenni's and The Addam's Family movie.Sunday, fixed the lawnmowers (the push mower needed a carburetor and the rider, 2 hair pin clips and a deck adjustment) and mowed Jenni's lawn, removed some of the bigger tree branches and a lot of the vines crawling up on another huge bush/tree. Yard is 100% improved, need more work on getting a space leveled for the future garage project and digging up a lot of the dead brush areas.Ended the day at her friend's house - I was the only guy, the other females left their "significant others" home. Go figure....they carved pumpkins and had some food. Afterwards, did some spot shopping and was in bed by midnight.I think I have cold coming on, so that should be fun.....and a weeks worth on meetings this week.
Thanks guys! You make all the difference!
PET scan took 45 min for the radioactive glucose to course through my blood stream and then another 30 min in the machine.
They said the radioactive glucose was harmless - what do you think of my new selfie?
Jeez! It's a good thing I wasn't drinking any coffee when that shot popped up! It'd have gone through my nose and all over the laptop!
One time was enough...
Hello there. Thanks for the Prayers. Mom was moved back to her room yesterday. Vitals are normal but no appetite.Got a Zoom meeting with her at 4.Back from semiannual wellness check by our PCP. Learned I need a "Welcome to Medicare" checkup within a year of joining. Scheduled that for next visit. Curious what will be different. Chief.......are you completely rebuilding FIL's house?Don.......hopefully life can get back to normal Roy.......here's to a good outcome. Did you try to remove the mineral oil?RT........bummer on the dead engine
SJ....frost got all our maters. Picked all the green ones and got them in the basement. Laz........I'm looking forward to the fall rifle season for seniors, bought a lifetime license this year. Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.

Morning. Out the door east. Fill the feeders completely full. Last past season. Clean out camper and have ready for next week.
Roy - A noticable improvement, definitely...
A foggy morning here. Roy looking good but I think you need a shave.
Started cleaning up the basement last few days. Getting rid of crap that I said I do something with last year so it's time to go. I wish I could shrink train boxes.
Well at work we're all here for the most part. Few guys work from home some days. Me I come in everyday. I have a hard time working from home. Everyone here is following the guidlines set up by the HR department so I'm no worried.
Looks like the weather will warm up a bit this week. Getting the furnace checked today so I'm ready. So far the daughter hasn't played the baby card to get the furnace on so I keep holding out.
Take care and stay safe all.
Well - they told me the radiation was harmless - had to take a new selfie this morning...
Banks - I feed some 1/8" fuel line tubing as low into the evap and condenser as I could go - and only got a bit of oil on the very end and nothing to draw a suction on. I think since the system blew out while running (and may have even fed the fire) that the vaporized oil went with the blow out.
So - got all the o-rings changed to the high pressure green ones and installed the new accumulator, new orifice, and flex hoses yesterday. Ready to draw a vacuum and see if it holds. Bought ac o-ring kits from Rockauto and O'reilly - none of them really fit correctly so will not be surprised if they do not hold. Gotta make a trip to my buddy who has a vacuum pump or go get my own (I think I will face multiple trials with this system).
Evenin' boys. Evenin'...It. Had to replace my left rear tire, as I managed to attract a screw in the one place the shops won't patch. Woof. There goes the train budget for a while...
Did work in the train room for several hours, giving a tunnel portal the full "Kinkade" treatment.
Sad to hear the news on Eddie Van Halen. To my generation, the universe did seem to spin out of control after he and Valerie split.
Beautiful day out. Out the door to help as county commissioner distribute her campaign literature around R'ville. Then chores here.
More house cleaning last evening.
Beautiful day today getting into the low 70s and sunny!
Have a great day everybody.
Good morning team!Gonna be a warm week after weeks of below norms. Good for the flowers, grass...high 80's maybe even a 90...Just had a quick call with the Chief to catch up - doc/surgeon's appt this afternoon late to discuss PET scan and direction - likely surgery which is the best outcome if it is ruled contained. Looks that way to me in the scans.Major milestone with the El Cam - Hooked the ECM and ECM wiring harness to all the sensors and relays and then used a dummy ECM carburetor for the mixture control solenoid and throttle position sensor so all ECM controls/feedback in place. She started up and...no "check engine" light. This means no codes were thrown and all sensors reporting. I would have to run it longer than 10 min plus some driving to see if codes show up - but I do not care as the state does not mandate that this stuff work - that it be present and not intentionally disabled.
Used clip leads to make sure all grounds for carb and ECM were in place. You can see the E4ME carb laying on top of the actual carb and the AIR control valves temporarily tie wrapped in place. Cannot drive it this way - too sketchy
Hello there.
Roy...good deal on the El Camino
Started off yesterday with jury duty. 1st time on the local level, did federal court once and ot was a circus on a case that should have been thrown out. A child stuck his fingers in the spokes of a 20 year old exercise bike and they were suing the manufacturer and the retailer that sold it. Luckily I wasn't chosen as the case was expected to run 6 weeks. Wasn't chosen yesterday either although it was criminal court with a list of charges I'd have had a hard time being impartial to.After a nap Mrs and I cleaned the chimney and furnace at the town house. A very tight squeeze. I was 130 pounds smaller when I installed it in '81. Never got done last year and it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared. Today's project is finding out why the furnace dosen't work in the camper. Headed to Delaware Seashore State Park on the 14thBest get toit Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.
Quiet day at work. Beautiful weather outside. Boys lost a heartbreaker Monday night, going from being up 3-0 with 7 minutes to go to being tied 3-3 at the end of regulation to losing 4-3 in OT. However, "my" soccer girls eased the pain by blowing out the opposition 7-2 Tuesday night. Tonight would have been the boys second game, but the girls play tomorrow night for a chance at the final on Saturday. It is a winnable game, but you never know how it will go. I hope everyone has a good day.
Wifey and I lifted that bowl. I held it on the edge of the pedestal base while she wound the pump cord in the hollow space for it in base. ITS CONCRETE.
Outlet post I told you about. Did away with drop cords running to that area.
Pergola [Arch De Triumph] where I have to install an outlet box at the top and do away with drop cord.
note: in the distance at the front brick walk to the house from the street, you see a lawn jockey. Politically correct. Face is white.
BoJ's for dinner thanks to Wifey.
Another cool start to the day. Didn't do much of anything yesterday after work. Nothing exciting planned after work today either.
Everyone be careful out there.
Morning. Slept till 8. Sunny and 69. Cooked redhots and eggs. Now to get moving and go to Lowes. Get the cord to do the pergola outlet box.SisterIL's hubby may have to have gallbladder removed. Acting up bad. She is having fits as they have to go to wedding in mountains. Claims she and daughter can't drive there. Funny thing. Wifey says she rented a house on the top of a mountain that sleeps 15 [only 6 going]. The best part is its an hour from the venue. Wifey asked why rented so far away? "I didn't think." Really blonde thing.Got to turn down volume of fountain pump. Reach in under the base of second section and there is a volume control screwed to the top of the pump. Splattering out of the top pool bad.Hope all have a good day.
Good Afternoon - Friday EveDay 3 - Meeting #3 - Big to do about nominations and the postponed Memorial Service.......both will be held next month, but after a row about the limit on people attending, the families and all that. NOW it comes to light, the County Association isn't a charitable group, but political AND as such, there is NO LIMIT on the amount of people that can attend!! Game ON, BITC*ES!!! LOL!!! This COVID nonsense has really gone on long enough.........and it's restricting the ability to honor our own.Day 4 and Meeting #4 - Regular Company Meeting tonight. Should be over quickly, I think, but we will see.Mom's birthday today, may go out and celebrate with Mom and my sister for lunch. Dinner out Saturday night.Windy today, 70's later. That's all from here!!
Sunny and pretty warm - high 80's, maybe 90.
Well the PET scanned verified there has been no visible spread of the cancer beyond the right tonsil and neck lymph node. Best possible result all things considered. Surgery scheduled for Mon Oct 19 to remove it - 4-5 weeks of recovery and then 6 weeks of a daily radiation treatment. Looks like my selfies may transform further! The next week and a half will be occupied with pre-op tests and a COVID test required for each visit. Waiting on the first COVID test approval.
Anj - to your mom!
Dennis - we think the air injection manifold check valve that prevents exhaust gas from going to the AIR pump blew out - setting the wiring harness and other plastic wrapped stuff on fire. I could not test/find any significant oil left in the evaporator and condensor - so we also think when the AC suction line blew (as it was over the blown check valve) the vaporized mineral oil became a small fireball. Would have been something to see!
Working on adapting the AC from R12 to R134a. Bought a cheap AC gauge set offa Amazon that was spec'd for R12 and R134a - there were no R12 service port fittings and the high pressure R134a quick disconnect was defective (capture ring sticks/hangs), so sending it back. There is an Amazon authorized free shipping dropoff at the UPS center about 1/4 mile away so taking it there and picking up a gauge set I have experience with at O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
"My" soccer girls play for a sectional title Saturday at 2 PM against an Indianapolis school. Better than our local rival who usually beats us but who lost to said Indy school tonight. The girls won 3-0 in a hard fought and well played game by both sides. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good Evening,Roy, SO glad to hear about the PET test!! That is wonderful! So now have you decided on Vanilla or Chocolate? The biggest issue you may have is trying to be somewhat sedate so you can really recover. Maybe a good time for planning or just relaxing! CONGRATS !!!!Chief, can't believe you lifted that bowl without additional help. Where was Grady? Think you probably owe Pam a dinner! Hope you guys didn't strain too much. Let me know if you need help with the Bail Money, I will see what I can do.Yesterday made a trip to the dentist, had a molar removed and another slot filled in with plastic on my partial. Surprisingly was not that painful. Kay was at the dermatologist today, had some sun spots removed and testing for skin cancer. Dr told here he didn't think there were any issues, just zapped her with the nitrogen. We spent the last two days working at her Mom's house, I believe we got all the clothes out. Its a slow process however, Kay takes a lot of time checking pockets and folding everything. I did end up with a few nice shirts that fit very well, and a few jackets as well. We did fill the Explorer UP with clothes we are taking to a homeless refuge in the morning. Then got word from the Mortuary that the ashes are ready for pickup. Think we are going to let them hold them for a week or so, then we will take them out to the cemetery.Anj, Best wishes for your Mom's B-day.I know there is more that I forgot, Best to All, and take care of yourselves!!! SJ, when you are free again, if you want you can always come out here. One more kook wouldn't even be noticed.
Nice cool morning here in Western PA. Green tea in my cup.
Roy that is good news.
Ran the trains for the grandson. He makes a lot of noise when they are running so I guess he approves.
Stay safe everyone!
BTW almost 2 weeks and I'm still able to logon on.
anjdevil2This COVID nonsense has really gone on long enough....
We're starting to feel that way down here, so much so the club's planning a train meet for November 15th. God willing and the creek don't rise and the rug doesn't get pulled out from under us again it looks like a "GO!" We've ALL got a bad case of train meet withdrawal, I never thought there'd be such a thing but it's real all right. We're ready and believe with the holiday season approaching everyone else is ready too.
Great news Roy! Keep up the fight!
Morning/afternoon folks!Cloudy due to the hurrycane - but no rain in forecast - we could use a nice shower. The effects of the radiation injection are starting to wear off - starting to look like my old self!I have been stymied on the AC project - the only accumulator available that is a drop in fit for the El Cam is equipped with an R12 refrigerant service port. None of the kits from the local auto part stores - and so far from what I can see on-line - have a low pressure R134a adapter that properly screws on to the port and engages the O-Ring for a proper seal. So I am presently trying to modify the useless R134a adapter on my lathe to see if I can get it to capture the O-Ring and seal on the flare. SJ - looks like Buckeye has you covered!

Roy, Is this what you need???
These Low/High side retrofits/adapters/fittings will convert your old 1/4’’ SAE or 7/16"-20 UNF R12 R22 charging port and make it accept the R134a quick disconnect hose. Low Side, 1/4’’(7/16’’- 20) x 13 mm (Blue). High Side, 1/4’’(7/16’’- 20) x 16 mm (Red).

Thanks Kev! If the pic showing the inside of the adapters is what is actually sent - these are what I need. I searched several times on Az and never came up with that set. I will order right away - if they dont work itsa free return!
EDIT - it will be here tomorrow! Presently pulling a test vacuum on the system with the part I modified (cut a recess for the O-ring and drilled a bevel for the flare end of the port to seal against).
These are the ones that do not work - same parts from several folks like A/CPRO VA-LH11 and the Surebuilt LXVC-12...from local parts stores

Yesterday's project was to run a line up pergola and install outlet box to get rid of drop cord hanging down the side.Tired. Two sets of produce boxes delivered. Got home at 4PM. Last ones were USDA boxes with milk, cheese, yogurt and fresh produce [heavy suckers]. Had a letter from the Pres signed Donald Trump. They went into the trash. Inappropriate to have campaign literature in those boxes. Will rest now.
Quiet day. Nice weather. Went for a long walk this afternoon to drop off bills, get stamps and stop at ATM machine. I hope everyone has a good day.

Your so right about that Chief, What has happened to doing what is right anymore? What about that person with razor blades on political signs put up on public land that cut the poor worker's hands who was told to remove them?? Shame on us all!
Nuf said.
Great weather here. Prepping my trailer for a friend to use it to pick up a BMW motorcycle for a friend,,,,, 350 miles away???? But he did not say that till I said he could use it. Stupid me.... Wish I would of just said NO! The problem with having a trailer...
Roy, Hope those fittings will work, looks like it to me.
Son said he is coming over tomorrow to cut and split wood,,,,,we will see.
Good evening from beautiful 65°F Southern Ohio,
It was really nice out today. Started removing the wall oven and some of the kitchen cabinets for the kitchen redo. We’re going to repurpose several of the cabinets into the utility room so I was extra careful to avoid damage. I also worked on the power supply for the parade float. I took a 7 pin trailer plug and tapped onto the 12v Aux power and the ground terminals, and fed that to a 1100 watt inverter, and out comes 120 vac. It ran a drill and circular saw so it will power several strands of Christmas lights with no problem.
Saturday we’re going to get a 8 week old puppy. The whole family is looking forward to the new member.
Chief – Nice work
Roy – nice goatee
Prayers for those in LA and where the storm hit. Raining and 66. Radar shows it stopping soon. Will be an off and on rainy day. That's OK. No Wifey projects [think most are now done].4 to 1 fight in Walmart in Rocky Mount NC. Guy tried to run away and got shot. Yes, inside the Walmart. 4 guys on the run [they know who they are]. Stupid. Guy is recovering in hospital.Have a good one.
Afternoon team!Ah - happy Saturday - sunny and to get quite warm in the 90's today! The El Cam held vacuum all night . So today I decided to attack the 'stuck' high pressure service port Schrader valve - which I knew in advance could go horribly wrong...but I was victorious! The valve would unscrew but would not come out - I suspected either the sealing gasket (kind of a o-ring but not an "o" - more of a cone) or the lower movable valve body was hanging up. Some on-line stuff said either get a special tool - expensive - or drill it out. I decided to mimic the tool's function and used a spare 0.014" music wire (electric guitar) string. Threaded the string twice though the upper body of the Schrader, twisted the loop, and then carefully spun it while muscling it out with a short rod stuck through the two wire loops (kinda like twisting a tourniquet) - when it finally, violently, let loose I thought - un ohhh - gonna be drilling this out/removing the line from the truck - but it popped out and I could see the hardened "o" ring was badly distorted and was hanging in the threads. Pulling a new vacuum and will try some dry nitrogen for pressure later this evening assuming it holds. As this is a train forum and have been horribly off-topic - here is a train pic (with an El Camino Choo Choo Customs body).OK ?
Kev - gotta love A-Z Prime - adapters will be here this evening, The one I modified on the lathe is working under vacuum - will see if it holds under pressure. The A-Z ones will be on the ready!
We got our new puppy and he is really nice. The breeder has been working with the puppies and he is almost house broke at 8 weeks. The kids are nuts over the new puppy and our schnauzer seems to like him too.
Tore out more cabinets this evening. I may start tearing out the soffits Sunday or Monday.
Roy – Good work on the AC Schrader and love the El Camino. Isn’t that the SS front on it?
Jim, Congrats on the puppy! You didn't mention what the breed it is, male or female?
Roy, Sure like the paint job you had done, it looks like it is brand new! No way would I be able to do 10% of what your having to do. I'm really impressed!
Been over at MIL's house the past couplee of days, wow is there ever a LOT of stuff there!!! It will be a couple of quite a while before we are done for sure! Can't believe how much we accumulate!
Watched todays Nascar race at Charolette, it was a "road course" IN the rain. Now Nascar isn't usually asked to do much more than turn left. But, put them on a road course, in the rain, with rain tires?? Heck they couldnt even keep the windshield wipers working! Took awhile to watch, but it was enjoyable.
Take care all, hope those in the area of the hurricanes and storms do ok.
Grandson's team came back to win 5-3 today. Sadly, no such luck with "my" soccer girls. Down 5-0 after 15 minutes, went on to lose 9-0. Still most post-season wins ever and one of the best records in quite a while. Weather was cloudy but dry and mild. Grandson's last match is tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Overcast and 59 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Will head over to preggo princess castle later on, to paint some more. Then I'll watch the Nascar race. I agree with Don, racing in the rain (and it was a monsoon) made for interesting viewing.
Spent yesterday with Mom, whom was having a good day. Also, got a phonecall from a childhood friend, and the three of us chatted on speaker.
After dinner, dragged my butt out to the shed and spraypainted some O-scale fencing white. Then got a call from an old cop-shop buddy, and he informed me how bad it was with the agency these days. I haven't missed it in 5 years. He bought a farm nearby, that he will retire to next year, so we'll probably hang out a bit.
Wifey and I finished watching Ripper Street. Good viewing, but not for the easily squeemish. She watched through her fingers half the time...
Cheery oh, mates!
Slept till 9 as raining off and on. Church on computer as raining [was to be outside]. Then caught sermon of Hayes Barton Baptist in Raleigh on TV. Now to get going to do nothing. Maybe Train Box tinkering.
Farms tomorrow. Clean out stands and camper. Finish filling feeders with corn. Tax hearings Tuesday.
Have a great week ahead.
Mornin' All !
Fife, I have the deepest regard for the "Boys in Blue". In this day and age it is absolutely crazy, it's gone upside down.
It appears that some of the restrictions at the museum have relaxed a little bit, I emphasize the term "little". Personally I still don't see me going in for quite awhile yet. Final approval would have to come from "she who must be obeyed", after all it has been a great 55 year partnership and definitely won't risk it now.
Roy, Really sweet ride. Just makes one wonder about the electric vehicle "mandate" for the future. A friend has a Tesla and on a trip they made it sounded like a real PITA. Everything had to be planned around being able to stop at Tesla charging stations. Our Gov. Neusollini mandated that all new vehicles as of 2035 be electric only, he said internal combustion can continue on the used car market but who will be refining any fuel for them. ???
Enuff for this morning, chow time !
Grandson's team won last match of the season and he got a goal, which is rare as he plays defense. Weather was good. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning gang!
Well it hit 95 here yesterday - but there were cold breezes in the El Camino! And the static pressure is holding! On to the carburetor!
Dougsnotta - no worries - there will be plenty of gas and gas powered vehicles in Texess!
And a note - Dougsnotta - there was a news bite that a man in CA was so despondent over current events in CA and elswhere that he went into his garage, closed the doors and windows, and sealed the openings with duct tape. Got in his car and started it. Forgot that a friend was supposed to drop by. Well the friend shows up, no response at the front door, knows his buddy is expecting him. Walking around the house he sees his friend in the car in the garage! Calls 911, Police, Fire, and EMS show up, bust him out of the garage/car - good news! - he is fine and no ill effects! But the battery on his Tesla is dead....
Running on fumes today. Daughter and family came home late last night in full noise mode. Woke me up at 1am and never did get back to a good sleep. I'll be dumping out of here at exactly the 9 hour mark.
Hope everyone stays safe.
Morning all
SJ don't know if you still watch hogan's Hero's but if you get the sundance channel on Saturday they run like a marathon of them. Cloudy and calling for rain. Train wise ran them for a while last night and I have been rearranging the trains that are on the shelves. I have two more sets on the wall that has the exit door and I want to put them on the other side of the room so I can have al my Southern trains in one place. Next will be getting all the B&M in one place together. I'm on the fence about keeping or getting rid of my A-B-A GP-9 B&M set as I probably wouldn't get what I paid for it, and it is basically brand new. It has seen shelf life and I think I ran them on a 3' when I got them home from York ( my one and only purchase when I was at york. ) just to test them.I'm going to be selling like 10 NW2's by Lionel and 2 MP-15 by K-Line I think. Just keeping a couple. Nothing planned for today really. Moving some trains around and I still have work to do in the shed but it's supposed to rain today. And to cut the material I need to be outside. Not enough room to do that in the shed. With the rain we have had and there calling for, don't think it would be wise to try and cut any bushes today.Hope all have a good dayTalk to you all later
Good Morning, guys!! Happy Columbus Day!! I have my Italian Flag out with my American Flag!!!I have no issue with cars and trains.......lol
Fife - I'm just glad you retired, especially now.....
People that don't know any better go for the electric cars, when, ecologically speaking, Hydrogen is much better for the enviroment - Where does the electricy come from? Politicians are just stupid.......So the week at my house is winding down, and, as expected, got NOTHING I wanted done, got done. Well, maybe a little.Friday was an early night, made Gnocchi for Jenni and Chicken strips with fries for me ( I did share).Saturday, got up early to feed the ferals, vacuumed the house and cleaned out "my" side of the garage at Mom's. Tossed a few boxes swept everything out and put everything off to the side. I have 4 4 X 8 foam boards I got for free that need to make the trip to Jenni's for the proposed layout building, I put her bike and my motorcycle out of the way. There were some areas on the shelves that were refilled. Much easier to get in and out of there now. Next week, will probably get bins for dog and bird food and a bin for the peanuts (for the squirrels). Also need to get the snow blower into thegarage and get that running.Saturday night went out for Mom's birthday then cake after at the house. Was in bed by 10ish.Yesterday nothing but running around, did get some Halloween stuff and looked at the Christmas stuff (a couple of nice candidates at Lowes....)After a Wawa dinner, I FINALLY got up to the attic, I bought some LED strips at Staples (10' for $10) multi-color with controller. Installed on at Spooky Town and it really looks great ( a little too bright but...). Cleaned off some of Christmas town - will need to clear off that section so I can wire up the street lights and make sidewalks. I'm starting to consider taking a mental health day to make this happen. I have 2+ days worth of sick time, maybe it's time to get sick....****COUGH COUGH****....Raining now, wind and heavier rain later, thanks to our visitor from the gulf....should back off by tomorrow.Philly Toy Run has been cancelled since the idiot mayor is concerned we'll be spread a disease - so all those needy kids don't get the toys the USMC gets through Toys for Tots......we'll figure out something else - we always make a toy donation or 2 to the Toys for Tots - my brother ran that program in north Jersey a few years back. And the car show? Rescheduled for next Sunday.....Back later................
Home from the woods. 8,875 steps. No rain. 30% guessed this AM after a night of rain. On the way home [0% after noon guessed], poured around 4:30. Misting here now. They are not worth a d---. All feeders topped off and stands ready.
Dear Rich,
you are obviously a non-comformeest, and za r-r-r-r-ebel!
The Burgermeister Meisterburger
Dennis,,,, “Our idiot Communist dictator in a state that has no electricity wants to force you to buy cars that run on electricity. Kind of hard for something that is years off?
I'll be 92 by then.” Or dead. Just move away and get over it! It is still a free country no matter what you think is right or wrong? Come on up here where it is cold, may just cool your blood down some.
Rich, ever hear of TMI? Never see you say much about anyone else here, most likely your not interested in their stuff but wow. Sorry if I can’t keep up or GAS anymore than you do.
Snip, welcome to the nut house, this can be a weird crowd at time.
Roy, sounds like those fittings worked.
End of rant!
Got better things to do. See ya next month, however it ends up.
Foggy and 62. Out the door for tax appeals hearings.
Kevin years away? you make it sound like a decade or so when in reality it's only 4 years from now. It will be here quicker than we realize. And Dennis remark about having to switch to electric cars, I agree with his comment, CA. electric companies are a joke, If there not having a brownout, there catching the forest on fire, because they can't maintain their equipment.
I understand what the governor of CA. is trying to establish, but you have to look at the reality of doing such a thing. The cost to the public to do it. This is the same governor that wants to tax people from CA. that move out of state for ten years after there gone. The people of CA. really need to look at what this guy wants and decide if they really want to go that way, Of coarse your Liberals with $$$$$ won't care as they can afford to such a thing, but your common person it will put a strain on them, especially someone on a fixed income.
As far as TMI Kevin your not one to talk, your known to do it also in my opinion, you will get on a long spout of what all you have done over the weekend also.
End of Rant
Short morning, today is labs, oncologist and lastly infusion. Long day at the clinic.
And if you are wondering no I won't be performing "Putting On The Ritz".
Afternoon gang!
Sunny and it cooled off here nicely. Spent yesterday diagnosing my security camera system. 4 of 12 cameras blacked out. I though the cameras failed but it was the wall wart power supplies. One big wart fed 4 cameras - 2 of which were off - it was strange and I started trading cameras, suspecting bad cables, power supplies, and then saw good camera would work sometimes. Long story short - all cameras OK. The supply that fed 4 would start working with two cameras? Loaded it with a power resistor and it was fine. Tested camera draw and all within spec and supply capability. Finally figured it out and started changing supplies and all is well.
Have lawn sprinkler head to change and then maybe some work on the El Cam carb.
Docs & hospital have juggled all my appts and now I go tomorrow for tests, inc COVID test, into a short surgery procedure Friday to make sure the DaVinci surgical robot will work for me, and then assuming all OK Fri, another COVID test Sat, then in Monday for the main surgery - 6 hours...wowzers!
Dougsnotta - wow - we have the same doc! He gets around!
On the train front - I converted a K-Line Plymouth switcher to run on DC only so it will operate on a simple "back-and-forth" track at the Trains at Northpark mall holiday exhibit. Switching polarity on a can motor, two diodes on the track, and a timer on DPDT relay makes 'er go. They will open early and assign times for attendance this year due to the C-19. Glad they are making it happen as it is the Dallas Ronald McDonald House annual fundraiser.
The little switcher is a nice conversion. I removed the smoke unit and electronic e-unit board. All the lights are incandescent and there is a small power distribution board in the loco that I was able to reuse. Bonus - the board already had the diodes on it that make the front and rear headlight operate in the proper direction!
wrmcclellan Trains at Northpark mall holiday exhibit.
If that's what I'm thinking it is I believe I've seen the display in a TM "Toy Trains at Christmas" video. Very impressive, to say the least! Jaw-dropping actually!
By any chance were you in the video?
Roy, The doc might get around but it's the pharmacist that is the key.
Flintlock76wrmcclellan Trains at Northpark mall holiday exhibit. By any chance were you in the video?
Trains at Northpark mall holiday exhibit.
Nope - I do not usually get invited to those events.
I did all the electrical design for the project and have helped set up and and tear it down in the past. Not so involved now - too much crawling around and getting too old for that.
Dougsnotta - ah! Yes! Bwa ha ha ha haaaaa....
[/quote]
wrmcclellan getting too old for that.
I understand perfectly. I have no problem squatting down if the task needs it, but getting back up is the problem!
Thanks for the response!
Hello there,
been busy getting ready for winter and doing PM on the camper. Spent today loading it for our trip to Delaware Seashore State Park. Leaving tomorrow AM returning next Wednesday. The original plan was to spend a couple of days at York on the return trip.
Best get to sleep.

Morning all. Spent the evening cleaning the bicycle. Spending a lot of weekends on it now. Really enjoying the rides. Not much going on. Checked out Mars in opposition and a really cool Venus / Moon team up this morning.
Big wigs coming into the shop today. Everybody is on their best behavior.
Stay safe everyone.
SnipThanks for Laugh!

That's all from Central Jersey - back soon
Morning All,
Just a quick stop. Been working at MIL's, moving stuff from one pile to another. Sure requires a lot of patience doing this stuf. But we will get through it. Going to see if I can make things easier for those I leave behind.
Weather heating up again, maybe this will be the last heat wave for the year. Hope so. Off to the dentist, then MIL's, have a great day all!
Morning folks!
To be a warm one today - 90? Cold front this weekend.
Did some studying up on Rochester Q-Jet rebuilds - last time I did one was around 1985? Some good articles out there.
Hi ho, hi ho - off for more testing I go! Later!
Mira [cat who was sick] got her rabbis booster and is fine now. Wiley [Yorkie] got his annual. Now waiting on hold for DMV. Can't get property tax right and about tired. If they screw it up this time, calling Gov's office. These folks are unbelievable. Don't pay them enough to get good workers.Got funeral for Mayor who was in office before me. She had been in such bad mental shape for years. Didn't know day from night for years. She is better off. A grave side memorial service. Then help County Commissioner lady deliver campaign bags to doors.Later.
V8 - It's called Money and Time.
If you are retired - then more than likely, you have the time.
If you retired RIGHT, then you have the money.
I have neither.....lol and I'll be working up until lunch time of my proposed last day of work and keel over from old age.....lol.
A HUGE basement or family room is another pre-requisite.....and again, that means money. And who can pay taxes on a big house? Mine are at $8K for a 1300 square foor house with a small dirt floor basement and an unheated and uncooled attic.....
I have something running and I'm thankful for that much....
I don't know guys - the lab/staff and my test this morning seemed a bit "sketchy".....
Dang software
ANJ, did I read that right? 8K in taxes a year for a 1300 sq ft house? Holy moly!!! Who could afford to buy anything there? Ouch. Had a good day visiting wife's side of the family today. Went to Nashville, IN and people were so thick could not stir them with a stick. Weather was nice but breezy. Roy, been following your car's progress. Prayers for you, buddy, on your fight with the big C. I hope everyone has a good day.
anjdevil2And who can pay taxes on a big house? Mine are at $8K for a 1300 square foor house with a small dirt floor basement and an unheated and uncooled attic...
That's why we bailed out of New Jersey when the opportunity arose. We were living in a 600 square foot house in Sussex County and paying $2,200 a year property tax on it in 1987. I wouldn't want to know what it is now!
We've got a 1700 square foot house here in Virginia and pay a $2,200 property tax on it, but it took 33 years to get there.
There's a lot of things we miss about New Jersey but the taxes and the little you get for them aren't one of them. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
According to United Van Lines of the "Top Ten States With People Moving Out" New Jersey is #1. And guess who runs NJ? All I'll say is they're the folks who've had a peculiar kind of derangement syndrome concerning a certain individual for the past four years.
Slept till 8:15. BoJ's biscuit [Wifey picked up before she went to work].On the phone with Edgecombe Planning Director. She is really nice. Got a physical address for the farm [that part where camper is since there are two farms]. Now DMV and tax folks will not be going crazy. Speaking of farms, farmer called, soon, all wheat and soybeans [wheat during winter and early spring, soybeans summer and fall]. 2022, sweet potatoes. 2023, peanuts. 2024, tobacco. Gets rotation right. No cotton this time around.Wash under carriage of pickup to get mud off. Then take to get serviced. Don't like to take it there with it coated with mud [spun mud while driving one field Monday]. Then guy doesn't have to have dirt falling all the time.Run patch through barrels of rifles to deer hunt with this season. Spray hunting clothes.Squirrels quit raiding bird feeder. "Cutting" green hulled pecans like crazy. If I could shoot in town, a pile of dead squirrels. They ignore you when they are "cutting" pecans. Like craziness.Enjoy your day.
Morning guys!
Started sunny and then the cold/cool front arrived about 9, very cloudy, light steady breeze...will only hit mid-70's today (90+ yesterday).
COVID test from yesterday came back negative - they did the full boat version where they run that swab way back into your brain and then twirl it for 5 secs - yowzers! - test procedure early tomorrow morning. As they are going to put me under I do not know if I will be any shape tomorrow afternoon to read/post based on my wife's recent experiences. Been a very long time since I went under (light) anesthesia (~1980) and that was only for an hour or so for a procedure on my hand.
Got the electronic Q-Jet apart and cleaned - it is in better shape than I thought (it was a professional rebuild/reconditioned). No buggered up parts - as it had a dead throttle position sensor (TPS) I suspect that it is why it was pulled/tossed. Got the throttle plate and body back together, new needle/seat/float/check ball installed and factory specs applied to the mixture control solenoid/main jets/metering rods and float. That took a while. Have to drill out some plugs on the cover assembly so I can check/apply spec settings to the TPS range. The idle jet/screws plugs had already been cleanly removed (milled nicely). Hope to finish it today - not working real hard obviously!
MikeC - thanks!
Happy Friday Eve ----
Yep, tis expensive where I live, there is no doubt. But it's home and I make do with as much as I can. Mom still lives here as does my sister and BIL. I moved my daughter here with her BF.
Yes, because the people of this state are stupid enough to elect the same tax and spend crimin--- I mean politicians, nothing changes. It is a beautiful small town and we love it here.
Flint - yup people are moving out in DROVES and it's because of the taxes, definitely. I can't tell you what my Mom pays.......and I can tell you 52% of my property taxes go toward the schools. 30% is borough and 18% is county.
Roy - nice work on the carb - continue prayers on your treatment and recovery to come.
Windy and up to 70 today. Not much else - NY electric train sale on Facebook tonight!!!
Back to work
Thanks Anj!
Meanwhile....
The wife called out from the next room....
Have you ever had a stabbing pain across your chest like someone's got a voodoo doll and they're stabbing it?
Sounding concerned I replied - No...
She responded - "How about now?"
Mornin' boys. Overcast and 55 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Freeze warning tonight, so palm tree in garage. Will be headed out this afternoon to fetch the youngest princess, and have a nice daddy-daughter meal.
Wifey and I have been prepping Fifedom all week, for a little family shindig tomorrow. Seems we know what the new grandbaby will be. All breakables have been stored in prep for the curly-top's arrival. Train room at the ready.
anj - When APG announced that they would be receiving the workforce from a facility in NJ, I thought "who in the world would want to move to MD...?" Silly me.
Fall colors are in full swing in the region, if you hadn't heard.
Rainy good morning. Suppose to stop around noon. Headed east around noon after haircut. Spend the night as gun season starts tomorrow.Have a good one.
National Bosses Day!
TGIF, Dudes and Dudettes!!
Cool wet and dreary today - 60s and rain and will continue into the morning on Saturday. Sunday is 65 and cloudy.
Kids are home so now I can sleep better. 24 hour drive from OK to home.
Running to Manahawkin after work to see my future in laws, her Dad had rotator cuff surgery on the right Wednesday, he had the left done 3 months ago.
Will be detailing Mom's and my own car for Sunday's car show, tomorrow.
Fife - National Boss Hog Day? And you know, anything in the North East is going to be expensive or ruled by people that think they know better than we do......
Trying to coordinate a day off - I need more 2 wheel and Lionel therapy, that will happen in the next couple of weeks, I think.....
Back soonest - gotta pay dem bills
Hello there, checking in from Delaware Seashore State Park. An uneventful trip Wednesday. Thursday spent a couple of hours enjoying 75 degrees picnicing and watching several guys kitesurfing in the bay at Assateague. A large group considering it's mid October, several swimming as well. I didn't check myself but radio reports water temperature of 71 degrees. Wind, rain and falling temperature today. We took a ride to Berlin Md and did takeout at an eatery we like. Not much social distancing going on. They'd blocked a couple of tables but not enough and the place was full. Everybody on the streets was wearing masks. I was really surprised how many people were in town on a Friday in mid October. Could have been mid July. The main reason for the trip was a visit to both Toy Town stores. In Berlin I picked up an HO Gilbert stock car and a Lionel Turbo missile firing car for cheap. At Snow Hill a Gilbert caboose and hay ejector car, both for parts. The owner told me he'd be consolidating into the Snow Hill store over the winter. Capped off the trip with another visit to Assateague. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. Saw lots of horses, only got out of the car to let the dogs do their business. Then back to the camper and chili Mrs started in the crock pot. Spent the evening watching ME TV Crawling into bed soon.Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.
Actually not a good day at all. Wife's eye went black on her....again. Requires major major surgery next Wednesday. Not good. Sigh..... I hope everyone has a good day.
Wow nobody posted at all yesterday
Morning all. Not much going on here. Just a fly-by to say hello
Hope all having a good weekend
Hello there, Woke yesterday morning to the news that grandson got a bear. I'm going to insert a picture but it probably won't show, my phone can't seem to do it. Someone please convert it Yesterday was a lazy day. Went to a Dollar store for a couple things and stopped at Seaside Hobbies. It's a small train store jammed with 90% vintage trains in all scales. Managed to leave empty handed. The plan for today is another lazy day Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.
Better get moving. Computer Church was good. Slept good last night. Been lazy this AM. Rifle to wipe down. Hunting was not the best. Only does and not many of them. Enjoyed the outdoors and the woods. Better next weekend.
Good bear report for Grandson.
All have a great and safe week ahead.
Good Morning,Banks, That is a great picture of your Grandson and the bear! Congrats!Happy Birthday Roy!! Best wishes for the surgery tomorrow, and plenty of prayers! Just remember to LET THEM do it, don't try to help them! Then Ice Cream and Jell-o for a week.Looks like going to have to have some major work done on the pool. We had the whole thing resurfaced about 18 yrs ago, and now we have a "slit" about 30" long on one side. Had a guy out and possibly can be repaired. Will need to drain it and then determine extent of damage and go from there. So we really need to wait until December or so, to avoid creating more issues with the it drained while we have warm/hot weather. So will see what happens. Considered just removing it and filling the hole, but that would be $20k+, due to the environmental and code regulations. Definitely a money pit!Things going well with the activities from MIL passing. Funeral on Thursday, Kay has been coordinating relatives coming to house for mementos, and stuff. So far so good. I guess that's about it from here, so be good and stay safe.
Hey all! Preparing myself mentally for tomorrow. Had a tough time recovering from the pre-surgery procedure they did on me Friday. Kiddos coming for dinner and B-Day. Homemade cupcakes coming out of the oven as I type. No sense in cake sitting around since we will be out all week while I am in hospital!
Did not do much today. Swept floor. Saturday mulched leaves and went to Mass. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good evening from beautiful 55°F Southern Ohio,
We’ve had the puppy for over a week now and he has gained almost two pounds. He seems to learn quick and is doing good. He and our 12 year old schnauzer play together and it is fun to watch.
Still working on the kitchen re-do electrical. only about 4 circuits to run and 5 more recessed lights to install.
Roy – I'll be saying extra prayers for you and your caregivers tomorrow.
Don – Pools and boats. Great when you get them and great when you get rid of them.
Banks – It is so good to see the next generation of hunters! Congrats.
Good thoughts Roy on your surgery.
Spent a good bit of the weekend on the bike. Lots of mile this year. Spent a lot of time downtown area watch folks out and about. It's good to see some folks not petrified of being out. They take the precautions.
Cut the grass on Sunday hopefully for the last time this year.
Good Morning......Happy Birthday, Roy - and prayers for a good outcome to your surgery today.Banks - that's a decent size bear - enjoy your trip!!!Buckeye - Happy Birthday - just in case.....lol
DonB - glad things are working out on the MIL thing and the pool? Good luck, hope it's a inexpensive repair....
Friday night ran to Jenni's parents, got there at 830, had dinner and brought more of her stuff home. Another 1 AM bed time. I got my phone back on Saturday, the mobile internet wasn't working, Saturday afternoon, it was out again. The road runner was cleaned and detailed, went to Jenni's car club bonfire, home by midnight. Sunday up at dawn to get the car ready, some minor touch up and getting the car show stuff in the car, then off to Jenni's and work on her car. Spent the day at the car show, Jenni won a Top 50 award. Took a nap, got some groceries and cleaned the piggie's cage out. Had to run to the pharmacy at 11 to get the rest of her meds. In bed back at Mom's by midnight.Still thinking about a mental health day, soon.Sunny and 65-70 today and tomorrow - that's all from here.
Mornin' boys. Cloudy & 50 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Gonna be a chill-out day, after hosting family all weekend. Found out Middle Princess is going to have a baby boy. Grandsons were here, so oldest boy wanted to make a campfire, and the curly-top wanted to run trains. They all went to a pumpkin patch yesterday afternoon, whilest I stayed behind, picking up around the house.
Roy - Good luck today!
Slept late. Then country ham biscuits and grits [with ham gravy]. Now to get going. Taking pickup to mechanic and give instructions on how to set gear lash on steering box. Something he should have done 2 years ago when it was installed. He has been messing with the steering for two years. Finally got to talk to him and show him. Seems they write it up and he didn't understand.Special prayers for Roy.Tax hearing tomorrow and Wednesday.Have a good week.
Good Morning,
Best wishes and prayers for Roy today, may the surgery be a great success!
Also for Mike C's wife and the her eye, hopefully good news on Wednesday!
Congrats Fife with the news from the Princess
Congrats to Jenni on her car club award.
Take care all and have a great day!!
Hello there from Assateague. Sitting on a picnic table by the bay watching the tide go out. Only a handful of people here. Water is calm with a light breeze. Mrs and I enjoyed a picnic lunch now enjoying the sights and reading. Got ribs in the crockpot at the camper for supper. Prayers for Roy and Mrs Mike
Fife......congas on the news. I'll keep you posted on the show. The bear was 300lb and 20 years old, 5 years older than grandson. SIL had been watching it on gamecam for weeks. Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic
Good attic report, Spanky. Looks good.
Evenin' FellasBeen a rough go of it lately. Had my yearly cardio checkup and everything looks good, had to go for an MRI calcium scan, and a nuclear stress test. Follow-up next Wednesday to see how it all looks. Sisters came for a visit last week end and I guess it went OK. Found out last night that my Mom's cousin passed away, expected but not so soon. We used to go up to their house in central PA every Friday night before PSU home games, wake up early Saturday, pile into their motorhome and go up to State College for tailgaiting and the game. As the years passed we would go up to his wife's brother's farm and stay in their hunting camp before going to the game. So many memories!Fife - conga on the new grandson!
Banks - nice bear! Does Fifey's Wifey know your grandson shot her bear? Prayers for those in need... will try to check in more often.
Liking the attic Spanky. Hope Roy is ok.
Losing another shop in the area. Mercer Junction is closing by the end of the year. Real shame as Dave is a great guy and the store was way cool. Fallout from MTH closing.
Everyone have a great day!
61 and fair. Doesn't seem to be foggy like yesterday AM.Off to werk. Enjoy your day.
Good Morning - Congas on the Grandson, Fife!!!
Nice progress, Spank!!
Sorry about your Mom's cousin, BrentGray and damp now, up to 70 later.Nothing much on the docket - watched Top Gun last night, raviolis for dinner then bed.Off to Maryland for a funeral tomorrow, my nephew's grandfather in law passed. That's all for now -
Had a text from Roy last evening. Lots of pain but doing Ok.
V8Vega Banks how do you get 300 lbs out of the woods? nieve question I know.
Banks how do you get 300 lbs out of the woods? nieve question I know.
Lots of help.
First day went well for wife. Tomorrow is the biggie. Work computer has been giving me fits lately. Working after 5 PM seems to cause all sorts of internet lost connections. Took half hour to do 5 minute job this evening after I got home and Monday night was an eternity. If problems persist during the day, will seriously look at retirement. I do not need this kind of aggravation. Congrats on new grandson to be, Fife. Roy, continued prayers. My congrats to Jennie on award as well. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. I hope everyone has a good day.
Good evening from cloudy 58°F Southern Ohio,
The puppy has been extra energetic today.
I finished moving the circuits that were ran in the main soffit. Another short section to do but I’m going to get the recessed lights in first.
Mike – is any of the other workstations acting up?
Banks – Your answer reminded me of an article in Field & Stream years ago Titled “Where is the best place to shoot a moose?” the answer in the piece was, “in the back of a pickup truck”
Spank – what you’ve done in the attic is unreal. Looks really nice. Great measuring and cuts.
Roy – Glad to hear you’re doing good. Prayers is being offered for you
Mornin' boys. Clear and 50 in the Potomac Highlands. S'posed to get to the 80's today. Wifey and I drove down to Romney to look around our lot down there. It's 10 acres of wooded mountain terrain, and she wanted me to mark off the boundaries. We've had a couple offers, so we'll see what happens. She loves this piece of land, and we had so many dreams of building a house there...until she found our current digs. On our way south, we saw the Potomac Eagle tourist train running through Vanderlip, WV. It's a lousy shame my outfit ain't running right now.
cheapclassics - Best wishes on the "biggie" today with the Mrs.
DJSpanky - Your falt. Now move along...
Morning. 69 and fair as the sun rises.
Stop by Boj's on the way out of town.
All have a great day.
Nothing exciting to report. Been cloudy for most of the day but the Green Tea is hot. Thinking about going home and adding a temprary siding so I don't have to load and unload locomotives.
Everyone stay safe. Wish I were getting ready for York but it is what it is.
My wife can see!!! Operation went very well and much more quickly than originally told. Doc was very pleased. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Maybe there is hope life will get back to normal someday.... More problems with work computer...Got it back to 90% functional. Hopefully that will be fixed soon as well. Not sure how many others are affected. Maybe sunspots after 5 PM. Thank you all again. I hope everyone has a good day.
Glorious news Mike, I'm thrilled for the both of you! That's a bright spot for us in a very dismal year.
Mornin' boys. Sunny and 50 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Pretty stretch of weather actually.
Today the Youngest Princess turns 20! Holy frijoles!! I done sang to her already.
Yesterday, took Wifey to Wally-World to buy a costume for a party we're headed to this weekend. She chose a cool witch outfit with a great hat. She was looking for a broom, when I innocently asked "What's wrong with the one you use at home...?"
I'm healing nicely, thank you.
cheapclassics - GREAT news.
DJSpanky - I've had good results using the little bags of grass seed at Dollar General. They usually stock them after the holidays, and I buy a few to keep on hand. Then just before a snowfall, I scatter seed over bare and trouble spots. The snow acts as protection from the birdies, and the moisture allows the seed to germinate.
Wow, what a long early Human Services Board meeting. [for which I do not get paid but donate stipend, that is for certain folks ]
Have a good one.
Happy Pre- Friday!!
CheapClassics - Awesome news!!!!
Happy Birthday to your youngest Princess, Fife!! Glad you are healing nicely.....
Nothing much to report - cloudy and 72F. 60's tomorrow,
Jenni has RCIA tonight, I'll sit back and sleep, probably.
Ran over to her house last night after visiting West Chester, PA for a funeral. Watched Terminator: Dark Fate over Taco Bell. Great movie.
Should be bringing the sheet foam and a small board over to Jenni's eith Friday or Saturday. Will be starting a layout there soon. O and N. Have plenty of trackage for both. Making mountains soon enough.
I'm thinking if the weather holds, to do the right rear axle on the Magnum. If it's crappy, then up to the train room.
That's all from here - check back soonest
Mike......great newsBack from da beach. A 7 hour trip, including a stop for lunch, gas and 2 pee stops. Saw the temperature readout on the Tahoe as high 84 during the trip. A bit unusual for mid October. Still 65 when the dogs had last call lastnight. Was stewing about missing York again last evening and decided to call John Fullerton, we had a nice chat.Spanky....... moss is usually a sign the soil is very acidic. Great for moss, not so good for grass. Adding lime should help. Burnt lime works now, ground lime will take a while. Typically Pa has an early muzzle loader season York week with +65 being allowed to use rifles so I've missed it last couple of years. Spent a few hours today enjoying 81 degrees watching leaves fall like snow. Deer trails weren't obvious due to all the fresh leaves. I did see a fox squirrel which are fairly rare. Had to quit (it was 81 on the patio when I got home) early to catch granddaughters last soccer game of the season from the safety of the parking area. They won 7-0. Then takeout from a local eatery. Now for a shower, hot tub and a glass of wine before bed.Prayers for those in need, those affected by the fires, hurricanes and the end of this pandemic.
Morning. Mostly sunny and 70 degrees. Warming for a deer hunt but hot hot. Cooler tomorrow with rain tomorrow night late [not much per guessers]. Holding off for my hunt.Go Roy, go.Finished voice recording for school board member buddy. I think she will win.Putting on bagging unit for mowed. Suck up leaves. Shower and head east. Will be the longest trip I've driven since the gear lash was adjusted on pickup steering box. Bet it will be a pleasure to drive this time.Have a good one.
V8Vega Fri. 75 but it was the same yesterday and overcast and felt like 68. Do people make money on YouTube videos? Many are obviously made for fun. Some people have many videos also I think for fun. But some I think they're make the videos as a way to make money, some have a sponsor with a brief ad. And many have a ad. I guess they get paid to have the ad in their video? One guy reviews Chromebooks, he is a expert and good at it, companies send him Chromebooks and it's like a buisness with him. He must make money from it. But for the more regular guy with a channel do they make money from it? And I'm guessing a YouTube channel is something you set up?

All of the above.
Some of the better YouTube channels do make money on them, some due to ads and some from subscriptions through Patreon or some from the YouTube organization itself. I don't think they all do but I'm not enough of an expert to know all the whys and wherefores and honestly I'm not losing any sleep over it. Some YouTubers have found they could make a pretty good living at it.
I've got my favorites (historic channels) but I won't state them here. Anyone can feel to PM me if they're curious.
Good Afternoon,
Mike C, Really Great News regarding your wife!!
We had a gravesite service for MIL yesterday, it was simple but very nice. She is buried with FIL at Riverside National Cementary. All went very well. All the local family were present, and Chris arranged for a video link for those out of state. That worked well as well. Then we all had a lunch together. Rather than just come home, I took Kay for a drive out to Palm Springs. Boy, has that changed since we were last there, not for the better either. Looked very deserted lots and lots of boarded up and abandonded buildings, was somewhat depressing. But we enjoyed the drive.
Now we have to start disposing of ALL the stuff, lots of it! Chris is going to be renting/buying the house from Kay, win/win. So that is good.
We were planning a trip to Milwaukee, but that has been postponed until spring. Too much Covid going on. Out of 5 children there (newphews & neices), 2 of them are testing positive. And we were going to stop in Branson on the way, but sure don't want to pick up anything on the way to Wis, or there, so just postponed. Better for everyone.
Weather sure has changed, its 2pm and still haven't seen the sun yet! Thick marine layer and overcast. Temps down as well.
Prayers for Roy!
Going to go do some errands, wash cars etc..
So take care and be Safe!
Evening all.
I cut down 3 more of the shrubbery today. I can not figure out why someone would plant like 2 - 4 bushes within 4" - 6" apart and then go about another 4' and do it again. I'm using Scott's 20-volt Chainsaw I got at Lowe's. It does good but I get 3 bushes done and the battery needs recharging. I think the saw is getting dull also. Need to get a sharpening file or to buy a new chain for it. I use to do ones we had when I worked the farm but that's been about 14 years ago now.
I bought a mini cutoff saw from Harbor Freight. wish I did this a long time ago. so much better than doing it with a Dremel. Cuts a nice straight cut.
Well that's about it for today, hope all have a good weekend
Great checkup today on wife's eye. Doc is very pleased with her progress. Spent rest of day caring for her and doing domestic "stuff". Good thing about working at home is that if she needs me for 5 minutes here or there, I can do that. Got some good news on the billing for the facility in that we can make payments there interest free so it will take a while and delay retirement, but as long as I can work from home, it is not so bad. Have seen the Honda train both Thursday and Friday hauling 80 autoracks each day. Looking at those cars up close like I have been and then looking at "weathering" articles in MR and other such magazines....not even close. Nothing against their efforts and I may make some effort when I work on the HO layout I have, but there is so MUCH detail it would take a year to duplicate. Last Indy car race of the season is this weekend at St. Pete. I will be in sports heaven this weekend. "Footy" both days and the Indy car race all on network TV. It does not get any better....well, maybe if they had allowed spectators at the 500..... Thanks again for all the well wishes and support. I hope everyone has a good day.
@smokey1 "I can not figure out why someone would plant like 2 - 4 bushes within 4" - 6" apart and then go about another 4' and do it again."
My guess, is they wanted the bushes to be 4 feet apart, but overplanted in case a bush would die, leaving an 8 foot gap.
Bourdais was 7th quick in qualifying today for best start of season and maybe the last 10 years. Hopefully this will translate to a podium or maybe a win!! Wife is getting better. Thank you everyone for the support. I hope everyone has a good day.
HOME!! Too hot to hunt. In the 80's. 79 at sunset. Again next weekend.
Mornin' boys. Cool, drizzling 51 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Had a nice time at the costume birthday bash for the sister-on-law yesterday. Scooby Doo performed his tribute to Eddie Van Halen, with a rousing rendition of You Really Got Me, during karoake. (sorry, no video)
FifeMax turned 9 yesterday. He apparently partied too hard on a chewy bone the youngest princess bought him. She and Wifey were up late cleaning the mess.
Mom has had a lot of visitors this weekend, from my aunt and cousin, to my sister and nephew. We'll drive up there later on today. I'll dvr the Nascar race.
Continued for Roy, Mrs Classics, Mrs Baker, and everyone in need.
A good day today. Foyt team 4th and 8th and secured the Leader Circle money for next season. Marco had me worried when he got to 7th place at one point, but Sato punted him into the cheap seats. Could breathe after that. I hope everyone has a good day.
Morning folks.
Definitely a drop in the thermometer. Still holding out on the furnace for now but with a grandson in the house I fear that may not last much longer.
Good weekend. Tires and inspection for the vehicle, started a small expansion for the layout, and went to the pumpkin patch with the grandsone.
Now I'm back at work for the week.
Take care all.
Mornin' FellasHard keeping up when I don't check in regularly. DonB - sorry to hear about your MiL.Mike - awesome news about your wife! My FiL had surgery on both eyes for C & G... he is now without glasses for the first time in 50 years and has better vision than TheQ and me. LOL (yes he tells us every day)Fife - no way youngest princess is 20!!!!Weekend was a downer. Missed my mom's cousin's funeral due to prior commitments I couldn't get out of - kids had final swim lesson for the season. Matthew is getting better at the back stroke (he looks like a snake slithering through the water), but his free-style is pretty good, at the end he did a perfect dive from the side of the pool! Christina won all three of their fun races against two boys... lol She is very much a competitor! Went grocery shopping in the evening (they need day time stockers... they didn't have much), then went through the drive-thru at McD for dinner on our way to a creamery in Point of Rocks for ice cream. Yesterday we went to FiL's for lunch as TheQ headed out of town for an inspection. I had to be home in time for the Steelers game, they played well for 2.5 qtrs then did just enough to hang on for the win (luckily Gustkowski is struggling on FG within 50 yds). Big game next Sunday (won't be talking to TheQ when we get up... lol).
Well, after 15 years of active membership in the "other" train forum, I got booted-off with no explaination. It may have been because I commented on a thread that talked about a "open" (non-train) catagory. They don't want this, which is their call...however I gave an example of a thread they were OK with in the past called "My best friend just died", followed by 30+ "sorry" posts. The best friend was a pet.
88 - Those Steelers-Ravens games used to be my favorite sports viewing.
Used to be...
Joe H - Come on in; the water's fine.
lion88roar on our way to a creamery in Point of Rocks for ice cream.
We know exactly where that is! We went to a Basset Hound rescue fair at Lily Pons MD several years ago, saw the ice cream place (don't remember the name) by world-famous Point of Rocks station and stopped in. Great ice cream!
We also made sure to visit Point of Rocks station, not a tourist attraction so the interior's off-limits to the public, but interesting to see just the same. Got a quick view of Point of Rocks tunnel as well.
Morning. Lazy, damp, cloudy and chilly morning.
On phone with Sirius over account. Person is Asian. Can't understand anything. Trying to play games. They have been sued over lifetime subscriptions. I have 2. Get told something different every time you call. They say it is fixed.
Got to go to FIL's and work.
Good Morning!
Joe, Welcome back, I don't think you would have any worries here, not as big of an audience, but good people!
Strong winds today, 40-60mph in the basin, think ours is suppose to be around 20 or so. Temps in the upper 60's, summer is definetly over. Took all the summer patio decorations down yesterday. Tried watching Nascar, most unusual ever. Started at 12:30 local, ran 53 of 300 laps, then red flagged due to moisture on the track. There was no rain on the local radar, so they thought it was temporary. Brought out the dryer trucks, and then tried to fill the air space with talk. After an hour or so of that replayed last weeks race, (the last half of that race 2 times, back to back). Then more talk, ran some other shows on "Lost Abandoned Tracks", Finally at 7:30 pm (6 hrs), the balance of race was rescheduled to today! They thought a rain cloud was very low over the track? Strange.
Got an email from Roy, he passed the swallow test this morning! Has feeding tube removed from his nose, now learning to swallow soft foods, then home! Great NEWS!
Chief, 2 Lifetime subscriptions? 1 for the "afterlife"?
Hope everyone has a great day! And be safe!
UPDATE: Winds have caused fires in Irvine (Orange Co), 3 hrs ago, it was discovered at 10 acres, now its over 2,000 acres. Winds blowing flames West & South, heavily populated areas! Mandatory Evacuations in place over 60,000 people, and limited egress routes! News reporting Gridlocks in area, bad, bad, news! Heavy winds projected through tomorrow afternoon!

V8VegaMy annual Christmas flight to Portland Oregon always is 2 hours there and has been changed to I have to fly to Seattle WA, and then back to Portland. Now 4 hours. I am terrably unhappy, I hate flying in the 1st place.
I hear you loud and clear. There's a joke here in Virginia that goes "If you're flying Delta from Richmond to Norfolk you still have to transfer in Atlanta!"
And remember the old saying, "For something to be funny it has to have a grain of truth to it!"
I used to love flying, but it's no damn fun anymore, for various reasons.
lion88roarRocky Point Creamery.
Thanks Lion! I'll remember that! By the way, when we checked out Point of Rocks station it was early Sunday on our way home. There was nobody there, at least on the platforms.
88 - Headed to the Blair County show, Altoona, with Tom. But thanks.
Very good day at work. IT got my computer functioning properly again. Got a lot of work done as well. DJ, I can empathize with your excitement. I am still floating after an excellent showing by the Foyt team. 2020 was a washout, but there is hope for 2021 assuming we have races at all. Older daughter came down to help with stuff around the house while I was in the office. I hope everyone has good day.
Good evening from drizzly53°F Southern Ohio,
The puppy his getting big really fast. We weighed him this past weekend and at 9 weeks he weighed 12 pounds. He goes to the vet for more shots Friday. I never mentioned that the pup is a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle. The mix makes for a great dog. Having a puppy around seems to rejuvenated our 12 year old schnauzer. It is so much fun watching them play together. The pup’s name is Max.
On the kitchen re-do, I’m waiting on the drywall guy to come Thursday and hang and finish the drywall. Maybe be painting by Sunday.
Don – Thank you the update on Roy.
Joe – Welcome back; like our trains, we’re more vintage now
Joe H.........Welcome!!!
I lost all interest in pro sports way back with the baseball players strike. Followed college football till PSU threw Jopa under the bus. Quit watching it too.
Fife........what's your ETA at the show? Definitely try to get together.
Good Morning -
Was gray and raining - may hit 60 later - Sun is out now
No trains again, left after work to meet up with Jenni for a quick dinner and she was off to her chiropractor, by then, it was to late to do anything.
No trains tonight, either, running to Manahawkin for Jenni's niece's birthday. Maybe tomorrow night. Much to do, now that the weather has changed.
Spank - nice progress!
I am off NFL, I didn't watch any Blue Jays/Yankees, and NHL is still a go, depending on when they start the season, once they start with the "social justice" crap, I'm out.
We want to do a road trip, Point of Rocks would be nice, just like I've threatening to go to Cumberland.......Jenni is working 6 days a week, and time is at a premium, especially since I'm hangin' with Mom.....
Off to work, let's see what nonsense awaits today.....
One big property owner was rude. Didn't get what he wanted. We had a big guy from Macy's today too. Nice guy.Now I'll rest.
Looooonnnnggggg day at work, partially self-inflicted. Hoping tomorrow goes better. Weather was lousy today. Watched the Indiana governor' debate tomorrow. Very civilized. I hope everyone has a good day.
Cold drizzle this morning but I guess the bulk of the showers is tomorrow. Still plugging away on the small expansion to the layout. Not much going on here. Work as usual. A good thing.
Mornin' boys. Cloudy and 57 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Nothing on tap today. Been doing little projects in and around the house this week, but no heavy lifting whatsoever. I have been checking out some of the "Virtual York" videos by TrainWorld.
Banks - Probably around 1030-1100 hrs.
88 - Perhaps we can visit during the next "hand-off". TBA
Slept till 8. Foggy and now warming up. May get frost next week. Getting ready for a virtual Human Services Board appeal on an environmental issue. Mobile home park out in the county. Owner wants to put two mobile homes on one septic tank. The capacity is based on the number of bedrooms. He has removed a closet from the bedroom and calling it a multipurpose room. I know this guy and he has always cheated. Now I must have an "open mind".
Then off to FIL's to do more carpenter work.
Prayers for NOLA and LA.
Happy Hump Day,Trip to Manahawkin was nice, didn't get home until the predicted time of Midnight. It was good for Jenni and showed her family we are committed to trying to be there for her family's special occasions.Tonight is a By Law committee meeting at the firehouse - I was asked to serve, like I need another thing to do, but it's important, so, yeah....Afterwards, will be going to my Princess' to finalize new phones.......ordering this via phone to avoid extraneous charges.......Rain and gray again - rain all day tomorrow from some Zeta thing from down south......
Fife - I've een watching bits a pieces of those videos....some interesting info, especially from the Atlas O signaling system.....
Back later.....
Rain seems tho be the theme today. Not a downpour but steady.
Doctors appoinment for my annual (had to make sure I spelled that correctly) this afternoon. Thinking about another day off tomorrow. Accumulated too many vacation days this year.
Hope everyone is staying safe.
MartyE - Correct spelling. Unless you feel a hand on your shoulder...
Couldn't make it past 7:15 this AM. Cooked stuffed sausage [butterflied] and biscuits for Wifey and self. She has to work today. Seems the hurricane is over pans right now with rain and wind. Doom and gloom guessers here want the wind to blow here but say very little rain. We'll see. No rain guessed yesterday and it poured for a while.Plan to goof off today. We'll see. Now looks like I babysit tomorrow afternoon late and tomorrow night. Prob hunt Sat. afternoon. Seems "something big" is being forecasted for 8:30 tomorrow night. DIL off Sat. and works Sunday. ???? Time to bust some heads for unruly protestors. Raleigh Mayor [whinny and crying] and PD Chief have no backbone.Have a good one.
Happy Friday Eve - - - Another meeting in the books, it's nice to have a sane logical meeting/discussion about the future of the department. Too many times, people get pi$$ed off and no one hears the salient points. Next company meeting should be interesting.....Ran to my house for a bit, discussed the phone thing with my Princess, checked on the trains and went to BK to eat. Afterwards called T Mobile and ordered both phones for myself and the Princess. Mine should arrive Saturday, which is great, since my contract phone expires then. Her phone will be a bit later, as her color is on back order. As Spank said, Zeta is here and it has been raining since late last night. Supposed to end tomorrow. I plan to be in the train attic Friday night, the kids will be at a party, we can do more cleaning while they are out and keep Smurf the cat happy.54F as the high - rain rain rainPrayers for Roy continueBack later
Good afternoon all,
Soggy day in Indiana. Betweeh grocery shopping and yard mulching Wednesday, I worked my posterior off. Taking it easy today. Quiet day at work today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Heard from Roy this morning, he isn't out of the woods yet. He is having "good" and "bad" days, yesterday was a bad day. Having trouble swallowing food and liquid. He lost 10lbs while in the hospital, and with the Covid scenerio didn't really get a thorough release consoltation.
Was left in the dark as to what to expect. They have made multiple attempts to talk with the Dr's, but have not had much success. He and his wife have been doing research on the web. He also indicated that all his food is being pureed, and even water is difficult. Most important issue is keeping anything from going into his lungs. They just got some "thickening" powder to make water more dense to help get it to his stomach. We talked for maybe 15 minutes, I told him I had thought about calling him earlier this week, but didn't want to put strain on him or his voice. He said I made the right choice. Also, asked if I would post this, and he will be back to the forum soon. Continued prayers!
On our front, it appears the fires are under control, all the evacuations have been lifted. I Spent yesterday cleaning up ash, and leaves from the Santa Winds. I'm sure will have more of that in the next few days!
Did get to see the Nascar race yesterday afternoon, (suppose to be last Sunday, been postponed daily due to rain). Did enjoy the race.
Take care All, and have a great day!
Evenin FellasTheQ has been in SA since Sunday and man is the house not the same without her. Kids are doing their best with online learning (think they are getting accustomed to it). Took them to a local place that decorates for Halloween on Monday. Really neat and the kids liked it. Yesterday I placed a couple of online orders and we spent the evening driving to Columbia, then Rockville, then home... 3.5 hours... UGH, but we found a new ice cream place in Rockville that makes custom ice cream sandwiches. Fife - sounds good. Tell Tom I said Hi. Wish I could have made it up this time... have to join you guys for that trip some day.DonB - thanks for the update on Roy. Been praying for him.Spanky - Yeah last weekend was only 1/2 decent for me... lol.NJ - glad things are looking up for you!Banks - think I forgot to mention it... nice bear!
fifedog Banks - Probably around 1030-1100 hrs.
Fife.....I'll hang around till you get there.
as of dark 2.5 inches of much needed rain from Zeta.
Spent a few hours Thursday Friday and Saturday hunting. Saw a few squirrels and a couple flocks of turkeys but no deer.
Got the camper winterized yesterday. The rain kept me inside today working on some house stuff.
Prayers for those in need, affected by hurricanes, wildfires and the end of this pandemic
Mornin' boys. Damp, damp, damp and 49 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. My buddy Tom will be here this afternoon, and he's bringing crabcakes. The train room will be a-buzzing this weekend, and I'll meet up with Banksie Sunday morning at the Blair County Train Swap Meet. www.altoonatrain.com
Today, another sad day at the railyard.
Spent yesterday getting a quickie oil change, then visiting FifeMom. She fell the day before, and was a little sore. She needs to use her walker, always. Stepdad also took a tumble this week. Oy-vay.
Continued for Roy. I want him around here for a long, long time.
88 - The Alleghanies should still be here when you finally make it...
dbaker - Glad the ash is all you have to deal with. Too bad none of those hurricanes took a left turn.
Chief - Keep'em straight down there.
Slept late. Coffee good. Turned cooler. Off to do baseboards at FIL's and then babysit Grands.
Good morning from a clearing 45°F Southern Ohio,
Rained most all of yesterday. I took a vacation day to be home while the drywall guy was hanging and finishing the drywall from where we removed the above cabinet soffits. I’ve done drywall but I’m SLOW. We judged to hire out the drywall work. He will be done in another hour or two. Well worth the money to hire out in my judgment. Once he’s done, I’ll cut some holes in the ceiling for the lights and paint Saturday or Sunday, then start hanging cabinets next week.
Took the puppy for his 10 weeks shots. All is good. He is going to be a really good dog.
Fife- My MIL fell several times until it convinced my wife’s family she needed full time help.
Don – Thank you the update on Roy. Let him know I’m praying for him.
Rich – Meeting with folks who have self-motivated agendas, or only willing to hear what they want to hear, well, let’s just say they task my patience.
T G I FGreeting from a cold and rainy Central Jersey! Still raining and 43F don't expect it to get much warmer at this point. Finally got my meds last night, had time to go to Burlington and Target to look for a comforter, not finding what I want, got dinner at Mickey D's then dropped off my ballot at the drop box by the fire house. Not sure of plans for the night as Jenni has a chiropractor appointment and that might last past my 6:30 punch out time. With the rut season upon us and since she already tagged a deer with the Charger, I hate to have her drive at night. I may run over to my house for a bit then over to her. Saturday will be a train store run and drop off the cable boxes, we changed to Fios and our internet speeds tripled at about half the cost.Prayers for Roy.......Banks - Sound like something I'd like to do --- stay inside like in my attic....
Phish - Yeah, me too, but this is for the betterment of the department. We have a small core that will stick to their guns, and that is refreshing.
LionRoar - Like you, I think I finally found someone that has the same interests, passion and immature things that I like/do. We can all get older, but not really grow up. We mesh well. She is priceless...... I marvel at your kids, btw, they look like great kids and that is a treasure......I'm still making memories with my Princess....
Back to the nonsence we call WORK - After I get done at Mom's tomorrow night, we get to act like kids. Jenni is Mortisha and I'm Gomez - I actually grew my Fu Manchu back for this....
anjdevil2 I'm Gomez
Don't go blowin' up no Lionels.
THAT ain't happening......lol
Morning. Partly cloudy and chilly. This is good for deer season. Will hit the road for the farms soon. Fred only one hunting. Seeing does, rabbits, squirrels and a raccoon. Headed east in a few. Back tonight.
Got home at 12:30 AM. No protesters showed. Funny. Frankie was home by 11:30. Had fun with oldest Granddaughter [she was in charge]. Grandson behaved and we all ate HOTDOGS. He is a picky eater. Ate all his hotdog and some of Papa Frank's french fries.
Enjoy your day.
